Austin Kickballers,
Our efforts to return WAKA Kickball to Austin hit a temporary snag. We were notified that our field reservation at Krieg Field Complex, along with the the entire complex, will be discontinued for December and January. They very recently notified us they are closing for the entirety of both months for field reseeding and remodeling. As our season was just starting here in November, this is a pretty impactful closure.
As we sought 11th hour backup plans, they offered a single field portion tucked around the construction, but there were some safety risks in playing around such a project, and some accompanying insurance issues involving the extra risk. As such, we've decided to push back our re-opening season to February, when hopefully Spring has begun springing, and we can all celebrate new, pristine fields. We hope everyone who has started this journey with us will stick around for the next step, but if circumstances interfere, we understand if you can’t rejoin us. We look forward to coming out in a couple months and serving you, whether this is a nostalgic trip or your first time flying with us. We will process refunds for all registrations within the next week, and you should see it on your original method of purchase in about 10-14 days.
In the absence of such hurdles for February, we will be dedicating our efforts to finding as many teams and athletes as possible, and to bringing y’all the best experience possible. I’m sorry for this setback, and we’ll do our best to make it up to you.
