Here’s my training philosophy.
My love language as a trainer is full range of motion and quality reps 😂 Maybe it comes from being a gymnast, where form and ex*****on are literally what can get you the gold medal. That’s my guess.
Now I work with clients from their 40s into their late 80s, and there are so many things I take into account beyond just putting a heavier weight in their hands.
Don’t get me wrong — I LOVE a heavy weight. I want my clients to get stronger and progressively lift more.
But I’ll only increase the load when I see that you can handle it with control, move through a good range of motion, and maintain the quality of the rep.
I’m not training people for a lifting competition. I’m training them for life outside the gym.
Strong AND moving well.
That’s my training philosophy.

For most women, the goal has always been: weigh less.
Mine right now is the opposite.
I’m trying to build as much muscle as I reasonably can before my 40s — not because there’s some magic deadline, but because muscle becomes harder to maintain as we age, and I’d rather build the foundation now.
The biggest thing I’m learning? Training hard is only half of it. You also have to eat enough to actually support muscle growth.
That has honestly been the hardest part for me.
So right now I’m focusing on:
• 4 strength sessions a week
• progressively lifting heavier
• eating enough consistently
• and getting more comfortable seeing the scale go up
Current goal: 120 lbs.

This summer felt softer—in the best possible way. 🥹
We didn’t plan any big trips. I intentionally wanted to slow down and spend more time with the kids, with less structure and more freedom to say yes to something last minute.
There were lots of pool days, waterpark visits—because that’s basically a summer requirement in Texas—late, unplanned ice cream runs, gymnastics, and so many beautiful hairstyles by Eugenia. 🤍
It was quiet, relaxing and surprisingly smooth. I didn’t expect to feel this sad that summer break is over, but I think that’s how I know it was exactly the kind of summer we needed.
The hardest part of postpartum fitness for a former athlete isn’t always physical.
It’s remembering what your body used to be capable of—and struggling to accept that rebuilding requires you to slow down.
I had to tell myself that rebuilding your foundation isn’t losing the athlete in you. It’s learning how to work with the body you have now—not constantly comparing it to the body you had before.
Former athletes: what was hardest for you postpartum—slowing down, trusting your body again, or accepting that you couldn’t start where you left off?
I’d genuinely love to hear your experience.
