In this video, Alex is demoing one of the best exercises for building a strong, well-developed back: the barbell row.
When done correctly, barbell rows help build upper back muscle, improve posture, and carry over to other major lifts and movements.
Key things to get right:
▪️Keep a neutral spine (no rounding)
▪️Pull your shoulder blades back each time you row
▪️Drive your elbows back, do not lead with your hands
You should feel this primarily in your lats and mid-back. If you don’t, then come see Alex and he’ll fix that for ya.

We’re excited to have Ila on the Chris Protein Personal Training team! Ila was born in Australia, raised in New Zealand, and is a police and military veteran. She brings an awesome mix of professionalism, energy, and deep coaching knowledge to every session! 👮♀️🎖️
In this video, Ila is demoing two staple lower body movement patterns that should be in almost every well-rounded leg program: a knee-dominant exercise and a hip-dominant exercise.
Knee-dominant exercises involve more bending at the knee joint and load the quads more.
Examples:
▪️Split squats
▪️Lunges
▪️Step-ups
▪️Leg press
▪️Squats
Hip-dominant exercises involve more bending at the hip joint and load hamstrings more.
Examples:
▪️Romanian deadlifts
▪️Conventional deadlifts
▪️Good mornings
▪️Cable pull-throughs
Both patterns train the glutes really well in slightly different ways which is while you’ll find both types in most glute focused programs. 🍑
