The way we exercise matters. I've heard surgeons recommend, "just walk" after back surgery. That's like a physician saying, "just take any old medicine," a dietician saying, "just fill your belly with something," or a financial advisor saying, "just buy a stock." _____________________________
First, the quality of movement matters. Notice how the pelvis tilts from side to side every step. Not optimal for the Spine, SI joint, hip, ITband, etc.
_______________________
Second, goals matter. Losing weight looks different than building muscle, which is different than working for strictly function. A shotgun approach is not the most efficient way of doing things.

If you are currently frustrated by pain with exercise or lack of progress, fear not, it may be something as simple as a tweak in form, exercise selection or the like to get you over the hump

Dr Frank Lipman What Is ART (Active Release Technique)? 09/24/2017

How are overuse injuries like back pain, headaches, carpal tunnel, sciatica, and ankle and knee injuries related to scar tissue and adhesions? Take a look at this article to see why the pain you might be feeling needs to be resolved with more than just Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation!

Dr Frank Lipman What Is ART (Active Release Technique)? ART uses the examiners hands to apply the technique. The main goal is to reestablish proper motion between muscles and fascia while reducing fibrous adhesions. Ultimately myofascial (muscle and fascia) and neural (nerves) glide is reestablished allowing for proper function.
