Stem cell session number 2 in the books today at 🙌🏽

Came here for the first time 6 weeks ago unable to put any weight on my leg. Happy to say upon WALKING in today I’m excited to see what progress the next 6 weeks will bring. One step closer to getting back on the mats and back in the ring… 🙇🏻‍♂️

At Home Knee Training Rehab w/ Marcy Fitness.
I’m currently 9 weeks post surgery after having my meniscus repaired. Here are some basic movements I’ve been doing at home to help speed up my recovery process.

-Bike Intervals: I start with a warmup on the bike for 15-20 mins alternating between 1 min at a hard resistance, and 2 mins at a light resistance. It’s a great low impact exercise for my knee while I’m recovering. It also helps increase the blood flow to the knee area.
-Goblet Squats: I grab a dumbbell and do a 5 sec pause at the bottom of each squat. I always aim to squat right above the spot where I start to feel pain and hold that position. I usually aim to do 3 sets of 8-12 reps.
-Dumbbell RDL: I use the dumbbells for the RDL to increase my hamstring mobility. I pause at the bottom for 3 seconds at my most lengthened position and then come up for 3 sets of 8-12 reps.
-Split Squat: I grab a pair of dumbbells and aim to do 3 sets of 10 reps on each leg for this exercise. The split squat when performing with a full range of motion can improve the flexibility and mobility of the knee joint.
-Single Leg Calf Raises: Finally to end the workout I like to do 3 sets of 15 reps for the single leg calf raises. By strengthening the calf muscles it helps stabilize the knee joint overall which is crucial for maintaining knee alignment during movement.

Thank you so much to for what you do. I’m extremely excited to see what stem cells do for my knee in the coming months. I’m so excited to get back to the mats and the ring doing what I love. I can’t express enough gratitude to have access to Ways2Well here in Austin and have a friend like Brigham who I trust immensely to help bring me back to 100%.

Often times we admire others for their work ethic and discipline. The reality is that those same individuals we strive to be like struggle with the cerebral tug of war that they’re simply not doing enough. Work ethic, discipline and effort are all a judgment based purely on perspective. What I deem to be high output for myself is the average Tuesday for someone else and in this moment accepting that is okay and I’ll explain why…

I think the pursuit of success is a perpetual juggling act of knowing that you can always do more than what you did today and yet be able to understand that what you have done is extremely valuable. This is something I myself struggle with daily.

Favoring one side too much can be very counter productive. You either think you’re content with never pushing for more or never good enough despite how hard you push. Sure, never being satisfied has created the pathway for some of the world’s most successful people to outwardly thrive but many times we learn later on that internally they were not thriving as much as we think we would be if ever put in their shoes.

So again I bring it back to perspective. Acknowledge your wins, soak for a bit in that pool but don’t fall asleep in that enclosed body of water when there’s a ocean of opportunity that awaits you as you reach for higher levels of the aforementioned work ethic, discipline and effort.
