Anderson Speech and Debate

HUGE thank you to Coaches Holmes and Love for a fantastic weekend at the annual Tiger Tuss! 🐅🐾🧡

For the first time in recorded Anderson history, we took a school bus to the competition!

Varsity World Schools Debate
- the team of Salomé, Ian, and Schaefer (Anderson Trojans) advanced to semis with a 3-1 record!
- The team of Lucy, Eléna, Talia, and Atticus (Anderson SLATE) advanced to semis with a 3-1 record! They walked over the Trojans to advance to finals. In finals, they won on a 2-1 decision! Eléna and Lucy earned their state qualification for Worlds!!
- Our varsity LD debaters also competed in Worlds. The team of Nate, Luke, Milo, and Aviv went 2-2. Nate was awarded top speaker in Varsity World Schools Debate!

International Extemp
- Nate, semi finalist
- Hunter, semi finalist
- Rebecca, semi finalist

United States Extemp
- Schaefer, semifinalist
- Lauchly, semifinalist
- Colin, semifinalist
- Aviv, semifinalist
- Salomé, semifinalist

Novice Extemp
- Peyton advanced to semis!

Novice World Schools Debate
- 15 debaters competed in worlds!
- The Anderson Munchkins (CJ, Naomi, Klein, Quincy, and Patrik) went 2-1!
- The Terrific Trojans (Hannah, Lael, Samantha, Valeria, and Carmen) went 2-1 AND were the 3rd highest seed at the tournament!

Varsity Congress
- Emmy placed 6th!

Novice Congress
- Owen and Peyton were finalists!

Oratory
- Audrey placed 6th!

Duo
- Lucky and Lily were finalists!

Thank you to Coach Janak and for hosting the in-person season opener this weekend! We had a great time and picked up some awards 🏆🥇🦅

Nate and Luke also headed out to the west coast to attend the Loyola TOC bid tournament. They advanced to double octofinals and had fun in California!
