CMRA Race 8 Hallett OK

This is probably one of the most memorable race weekends i have had in so far. We left Austin Thursday afternoon wanting to make sure we arrived in plenty of time for the weekend. We would be competing in the BBE and Sunday sprints and given the fact that there would only be two of us riding the endurance race figured it would be best to get there early and be well rested. Unfortunately it took us 2 hours just to get out of Austin and we didn't get to the track until 2;30 in the morning. Tried to sleep but the excitement of another race weekend was just to much so stayed awake and watched the sunrise. Got the bike ready for practice and was able to get out for a session before the rain put a dent in my plans, so put the bike away and started to get the endurance bike and pit area ready. Saturday morning rolled around and the weather looked great let Albert take the practice sessions on the endurance bike so he could get a feel for the track. Then for some unknown reason i got a wild hair and decided that even tho i was about to endurance for at least 3 hours it would be a good idea to enter the 2nd solo 30 race. Got off to a great start and felt really comfortable, the bike felt quick and i got a little carried away going into the bitch started to look at the grass and went off the track, at that very moment i thought i had just fu**ed up my entire weekend and let the endurance team down at the same time, according to those behind me the back wheel was off the ground and i was halfway off the bike but someway somehow i was able to save it and reenter the track safely. I had lost several positions but then the red flag came out i entered the pits relieved and my team mate gave me a look that told me to be more careful. Back out on the grid an again i got a good start and was able to finish the race 3rd in class without incident. BBE rolls around and i let Albert take the first stint, everything went well without incident and he started to put down some consistent lap times after a bout an hour the tank was empty and he was coming in. It was at this point i realized that maybe doing the first race was not the brightest idea i had had. My legs were cramping as i climbed on the bike an i was really uncomfortable but i knew that i had to let Albert rest so i put my head down and started to get into a rhythm. The hour seemed to take forever but finally the gas was gone an i pulled into the pits relived to be able to take a rest. It seemed like only 20 minutes before the bike was back in the pits i was ready to go and jumped on put my head down and started to put in some faster laps and we managed to claw back places but the stamina wasnt there an i could oly manage half an hour session. We went back and forth like this for the rest of the race, with only two of us and no quick change tire we realized we would have to complete the race on 1 tire. The longer we went the less grip we had but we made it all the way through withought incident 230 laps in the bag and a 3rd in class an absolute victory for us. Sunday the weather was fantastic i couldnt wait to start sprinting my 1st race was race 8 another great start and i found myself in 4th going into the 1st turn i ran a little wide and gave up a place but put my head down and was able to stay with the leading pack another mistake on lap two in turn 1 pushed me all the way back to 9th determined to make up for the mistake i dropped my head gritted my teeth and turned up the power. managed to get back 2 places and had an epic battle with Paul Bradley and Shawn Harris i was able to get by shawn but paul just managed to edge me out at the line by a couple of tenths.Coming back to the pi didnt think i ha done very well and was surprised to see that i had a PB lap time of 1:22:438. Second race was the formula 40 another good start and in contention once more for the top spots second lap i ran a little wide in the carousel and hit the weepers at full lean and the bike just dissapeared from underneath me i slid for about 30 yards my airbag went off and i put a hole in the arm of my leathers. Ziggy helped me pick teh bike up and i was ablet to get back on and get it started another red flag allowed me to get the bike teched and back out to the starting grid. This time i got too good of a start and jumped the light by a fraction of a second Daisy pushed me hard i managed to finish 3rd but the false start cost me 5 seconds and put me in 4th place. The rest of day went off without incident i felt i raced ok in the modern classic but the shifter wasnt working well and i diddnt have that much confidence in the bike and believe i should have done much better. Race 20 was an absolute blast battling Daisy DeSimone Kasey Lewis and Pops Felio when the race was done Pops passed me and gave me the finger i didnt know was him and Kasey Lewis andi just looked at each other not knowing why he was so upset. He came by my pits and i realized who it was made perfect sense why he gave me such a sweet gesture he gave me a hug and thanked me for a great clean race love these guys. Race 23 was the last for me and the last of the day another good start Jeff Offut went by me and i was about to let him go as i was so tired then the competitor in me slapped me in the face and said what was i thinking, the chase was on with two laps to go i had reeled him in and was right on his six, he could sense me and started to put the hammer down i figured i would make my move in the bitch on the last lap i was on his back wheel all the way i just could find a way past and he pipped me at the post another great race another PB 1:21:927. This is so much fun i love racing i love spending time with my race family and i love writing these reports . Hope you all enjoy. Thanks to my sponsors Direct image source

BEWARE EXTREMELY LONG POST
Race Report 20-21 Cresson
Saturday B.B.E
Dots Slicks or Wets from the moment we woke looked like we would be riding in the rain all day, we had managed to get a set of older rain tires however upon further inspection we decided to go with a brand new set. Bike was all ready with her new shoes as we got closer to the start and began to setup on pit wall disaster struck the bike would not start. The power commander and fuel pump were dead we scrambled for about 30 minutes trying to identify the problem to no avail. Time to risk all and go out on the B bike the 04 R1 no spare parts no spare wheels on a very slick track. After getting the tires mounted we had lost about 45 minutes but at least we had a bike and would be able to turn some laps. This was my first time ever on rain tires and to say i wasn't used to them is an understatement, so I started out very tentatively trying to get used to the grip or lack thereof. First lap out and the gear changer came loose forcing me into the pits and costing valuable time. A quick tightening and we were back out on track and started to get going unfortunately the rain had stopped and the track was drying rapidly i just put my head down determined to make laps and get through the first tank of fuel, knowing that the quality of tire was getting worse with every lap, after about 35 laps the fuel light came on and i brought the bike infor rider change. Checking the tire we realized we had to change to even stand a chance. Rob Green got on the bike as we refueled and took it out while we warmed the slicks ready to remove the wheels again and change tires, after about 5 laps we were ready and got the change done but the lack of extra wheels cost us a ton of time. With the slicks mounted we were off again and things started to get easier lap after lap after lap Rob Green Albert Richardson and myself no problems consistent lap times. I ended up finishing the race with the last 13 or so laps and the tire was toast the cords were showing but it had done it's job and got us through the day. Considering all the obstacles we really couldn't complain we managed to maintain 3rd in class and have given ourselves a fighting chance over the last two rounds.

Sunday Sprints
Race 8 was my first f the day and having told myself 5 times to grab the transponder off the endurance bike i forgot it and ended up having to turn around at the track entrance and run back to the pit to grab it. Tried to get back out on track in time but unfortunately didn't get there quick enough so had to start from pit row. Not the way i wanted to start my sprinting i just put my head down and did what i could managed to claim 11th place not great but no one to blame but myself.
Race 12 was the second race somehow i got confused in my head thinking this was the modern classic race and jumped on the wrong bike determined not to be late to the start, i realized what i had done once i was on the grid by that time it was too late. I got a good start and was able to stay in contention but the older bike was no match for the newer models, I got behind Daisy Desimone but couldn't pass although i tried several times she was able to fend me off I ended up finishing 5th in class my best finish in the CMRA so far. My next race wasn't until race 17 so i was able to settle down this race was the modern classic so the bike was setup and ready to go. Once again i got a good start and battled all the way to the line with another 5th in class finish.
Race 19 Formula 1 Novice on the new bike at the grid on time, i got a great start passing Joseph Lopez Noah Damon Reese and Kasey Lewis, Joseph was able to get back in front of me going into rattle snake and Kasey was biting at my heels. I was able to hold him off for a while but he was a little stronger in the back section of the track and got by me and quickly by Joseph through big bend i put my head down and tried to get by. I just wasn't aggressive enough and waited too long before finally making a pass on the outside going into rattle snake. By that time Kasey Lewis was long gone and i had to settle for a 7th place but i ran my Personal best time in that race and all my laps were in the 1:23's.
Race 22 was the final race i was drained and gave it everything i could again i got a good start but got a little spooked going through big bend and dropped to 8th quickly getting back into 7th on the outside in rattle snake again i couldn't catch the guys in front so just made sure i didn't drop any places and finished in 7th again.
