Deep House Yoga was so fun. 🪩🧘‍♀️🎶

Movement, music, community + a whole lot of good energy.

We flowed through an all-levels vinyasa practice with Sona Shala | Sonali Krish powered by deep & melodic house music from Kiana Ochoa & ℌ𝔞𝔧𝔧 🇱🇧, played with new shapes, took moments to groove, breathe + feel the sound…✨

Thank you to everyone who came out and brought the energy, and to our wellness partners for making the evening even sweeter. 🤍

Deep House Yoga happens the first Wednesday of every month at Stardust Garage! If you missed this one, come flow with us next month.

Yoga doesn’t always have to be quiet. Sometimes the practice looks like moving, sweating, dancing + remembering how good it feels to be in your body.

See you on the dance floor… aka your mat. 🪩

Props aren’t there to make the pose “easier.” They’re there to make the practice more accessible. 🧘‍♀️

The use of props in modern postural yoga was greatly developed and popularized by B.K.S. Iyengar, who used straps, blocks, blankets, bolsters, chairs, and even the wall to help students experience postures with greater support and precision.

A strap, for example, can become an extension of your arms.

Instead of straining to reach the foot in a supine hamstring stretch, the strap brings the foot closer to you — creating space to soften the shoulders, maintain the integrity of the spine, and actually experience the intended action of the posture.

Props can help us:

• create more space in the body
• find steadiness without unnecessary gripping
• explore alignment and sensation with more awareness
• make postures accessible to different bodies, abilities, injuries, and ranges of motion
• stay in a shape long enough to actually learn from it
• offer feedback so we can better understand what our body is doing

For teachers, offering a prop isn’t necessarily a modification or a “less advanced” version of a pose. Sometimes it’s the most skillful way to teach the pose.

For students, using a prop isn’t about doing less.

It’s about giving yourself the support you need to feel more.

The goal isn’t to make your body fit the pose.
It’s to let the practice meet the body you’re in today.

Save this for your next practice or teaching day, and tell us: what yoga prop do you reach for the most? 🤍

Yoga is so much more than the shapes we make on the mat. 🧘‍♀️

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali remind us that the practice is also about how we work with the mind, how we respond to challenge, how we relate to others, and how we move through everyday life.

Can we pause before reacting?
Can we stay committed without demanding perfection?
Can we give our best effort without gripping the outcome?
Can we find steadiness even when life feels anything but steady?

The mat gives us a place to practice these things, but life gives us the opportunity to live them.

Save this carousel as a little Yoga Sutras refresher + send it to a yogi friend who loves exploring the philosophy behind the practice. 🤍

Which Sutra are you taking off the mat with you this week?

The words we repeat become part of the way we relate to ourselves. 🌿

Affirmations aren’t about pretending everything is okay or forcing yourself into positivity. They’re an opportunity to intentionally practice a different inner dialogue.

Research on self-affirmation theory suggests that reflecting on meaningful values can help reduce defensiveness under stress and support more flexible, adaptive responses. And through neuroplasticity, repeated patterns of thought and attention can strengthen the neural pathways we use most often.

In a trauma-informed yoga practice, affirmation can become even more powerful when paired with the body: a slower breath, a hand to the heart, feeling your feet on the earth, or simply noticing what’s present without judgment.

Try this today:

I trust my body’s wisdom.
I can soften without losing my strength.

Breathe. Repeat. Notice what shifts. 🤍

🎓✨ Celebrating our newest 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training graduates!

We are SO proud of each of you. You showed up with curiosity, courage, dedication, and a willingness to grow, not only as teachers, but as students of yoga and of yourselves.

Graduation may mark the completion of your 200 hour YTT, but it’s really just the beginning. 🤍

We cannot wait to see all the ways you take what you’ve learned and make it your own, through the classes you teach, the spaces you create, the people you support, and the many ways you bring and share yoga with your communities and the world.

And if you’ve been thinking about joining a Yoga Teacher Training, maybe this is your sign. YTT is about so much more than learning how to teach a yoga class. It’s an opportunity to deepen your practice, understand the roots and philosophy of yoga, find your voice, build community, and discover how you want to carry this practice forward.

To our graduates: congratulations. We’re honored to be part of your journey. 🫶

Forearm stand is less about throwing yourself upside down and more about building the pieces that make the shape feel strong + supported.

Save this progression to practice:

✨ Shoulder protraction + upper back strength
✨ Compression + stacking the hips
✨ Finding your L-shape at the wall
✨ Bringing it all together in Pincha Mayurasana

Take your time with each step. The prep is the practice, you don’t have to nail the final shape to receive the benefits.

Save this for your next practice + let us know: are you working on forearm stand?

What if you ended this year as a certified yoga teacher? ✨

Our next 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training begins September 12, and there’s still time to join us.

Teacher training is about so much more than learning how to teach a yoga class. You’ll deepen your practice, explore yoga philosophy, anatomy, sequencing, breathwork, meditation, and the art of holding space, but you’ll also learn so much about yourself.

Your patterns. Your voice. Your confidence. The way you move through life and show up for others.

Whether you know you want to teach or you simply feel called to go deeper, YTT can be one of those experiences that changes the way you see your practice, and yourself.

And by the end of this year, you could be a certified yoga teacher. 🧘‍♀️

📅 Begins September 12
