I have owned eighty motorcycles over thirty-five years and I keep going
smaller. This one is why.

The Street Triple 765 Moto2 Edition. Triumph built a thousand of them, 150
came to the United States, and mine is number 641.

Most reviews will give you the numbers. 128 horsepower, 188 kilos, Ohlins
and Brembos. What they will not tell you is why a three-cylinder engine feels
the way it does, which comes down to something simple. A triple fires three
times every two turns of the crank, evenly spaced. A twin leaves a gap, which
is why it punches and why it runs out of breath. A four blurs into one smooth
shove you have to go hunting for. The triple does both jobs at once.

I took it on my usual Seattle loop, through the industrial end of town, past
the ballparks, under the city through the 99 tunnel.

New review is up now. What engine layout do you love, and why? I read every
reply.

Why we get religious about a badge

Apple people and Windows people. Japanese bikes, Italian bikes, and now
Chinese bikes. We all get religious about a badge, and I am no better.
I still defend a bike I sold nine years ago.
