We won't be making Watkins Glen next weekend, and wish the best of luck to all of our people. 🏁
However we'll be back in FULL force in time for Midwest Fest in June, with a little extra heat this time around. 🔥🔥
GLTC race in the wet from the back of the pack! 🏁
Some context leading up to this: We're at Carolina Motorsports Park racing with Gridlife and I have missed qualifying and race 1 due to a few issues that left me with no clutch pedal. We fixed them after Race 1 on Friday and the car was ready to go for race 2 Saturday morning. However this meant I would have to start at the very back of the pack for race 2
Around 10:15 we grid up for race 2 when reports of lightning come in and we have to delay the race. A half hour we're watching from our garage stall as a torrential downpour comes down. I disconnected the rear sway bar seeing as there's no chance of this drying up anytime soon. An early lunch is taken, and then it takes another hour after that and then some until we can grid up. The track is VERY wet at this point, with risks of standing water in several places including "the kink" which is typically a very fast 4th gear turn you don't lift for.
The conditions made for one of the most fun races I've had yet with Gridlife, and I managed to get 11 spots before the checkered! 🏁

Carolina Motorsports Park recap:
Car is getting a little better each time but we're not quite there yet. Only finished two races due to a few issues we have solutions for next time around.
Couldn't qualify and make race 1 on Friday due to no clutch pedal. We fixed the problem and it stormed for race 2 so bad I could hardly see. It was a blast starting from the back of the pack in the wet, we got 11 spots!
Race 3 was dry and the car was super gripped up from the fresh tires and setup changes we made but it felt like I was on 3 cylinders power wise. After the race Dad found oil on the #1 spark plug unfortunately, so the engine's coming out soon.
We won't make Watkins Glen but we'll have a fresh engine in and some reliability upgrades for Midwest Festival in June!

Not my best weekend, not my worst weekend. Didn’t qualify great, changed the setup Saturday night and found 3 seconds Sunday AM but then had throttle body issues that took me out of 2 races. Thankfully the last race of the weekend the throttle body held up the whole race and it was a blast working up the field from the back. I’ve learned a few things from the trouble over the weekend and I’ve got a plan forward to improve the car and it’s reliability for CMP in a few weeks.
