Our last day….
Finished with teaching the best class we could. Finished with a strong competition class to wrap up the year….and our time here. We will be moving over to ATA Poland, where current and former students will have a free month to try it out.
Thank you to every student who walked through here, and made us who we are by putting your heart and soul on the mat.
Thank you to our parents and supporters who helped support us through everything over the years.
Thank you to our instructors to giving it your all, and helping students realize their potential.
It’s hard to put everything into words, but from the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate every single one of you.
We wish you all Happy Holidays, and best wishes to you and your families.

And with that, we have wrapped up our last testing of the year…..and here at Elevate Austintown. Saturday, December 21st will be our last day open.
We have been open since 1986, and we’ve had some pretty amazing years here. We want to thank everyone who has come through our doors and got to train Songahm Taekwondo with us. We really appreciate you.
Thank you for all of our students and families who have supported us in the good and bad times. It’s hard to find more words to show our love and appreciation.

We have many weapons that we train with here at ATA. They all have forms that teach you proper usage and application of them. Some weapons can only be learned at certain belt levels, while others can be used even starting at color belt.
Mr. Wilhide and Mr. Campbell showing 2 weapons that are taught after obtaining your 4th degree, the three section staff (Sam Dan B**g) and cane (Jee Pahng Ee).
We’re gonna be starting a new trend the next couple weeks, calling it Weapon Wednesday. We will be highlighting and giving some facts about the different weapons we teach and use.
Let us know your favorite weapon, and you may see it in the coming weeks!

Martial arts teaches courage through a variety of practices and philosophies that are woven into its training. Here are some key ways it instills this life skill:
•
1.) Overcoming Fear of Failure
Sparring, competitions, and performing in front of others expose students to failure, teaching them to face and learn from it without fear.
•
2.) Confronting the Unknown
Martial arts often involve unpredictable scenarios, such as sparring with a new partner or learning a difficult technique, which encourages students to face uncertainty with confidence.
•
3.) Building Self-Confidence
As students master techniques and grow stronger, their self-confidence increases, which empowers them to face challenges on and off the mat with courage.
•
4.) Practicing Mental Resilience
Meditation, focus exercises, and the mental discipline required in martial arts help students develop inner strength to remain calm and courageous under pressure.
•
5.) Encouraging Controlled Risk
Students learn to take calculated risks during training, like attempting a challenging move or entering a competition, fostering a mindset that embraces challenges.
•
6.) Learning to Defend Themselves and Others
By acquiring self-defense skills, students gain the courage to stand up for themselves and others in difficult situations, knowing they have the ability to protect.
•
7.) Teaching Respect and Responsibility
Martial arts instill respect for opponents, instructors, and oneself, teaching students to face conflicts with dignity and courage rather than avoidance or aggression.
•
8.) Creating a Supportive Community
Training alongside peers fosters a sense of camaraderie and mutual encouragement, empowering students to take risks and persevere with the backing of a supportive group.
•
Martial arts doesn’t just teach techniques—it builds a mindset of resilience, bravery, and the ability to face life’s challenges head-on.
