Last week, a 0.87-mile bicycle route named State Street Cycle Track opened in New Haven.

It was the final piece needed to complete a 27-mile cycling track between New Haven and northern Southington.

That less-than-a-mile stretch starting on South Water Street and ending on Grove Street completed New Haven’s portion of the East Coast Greenway, a cycling route that began in 1991 spanning 3,000 miles between Maine and the islands of Key West, Florida.

Got out to exercise rights today with early voting kicking off in CT. This year is so important. Please get out and vote. It is our right and our chance to determine the future of this country.

Join us as we celebrate the local government leaders who have served Avon.

Avon Honors Those Who Serve

Join us on Saturday, October 17 for a special Avon 250 event celebrating self-government, public service, and the many residents who have stepped forward to serve our community in elected office.

The afternoon will feature a panel discussion with four current and former Town Council Chairs — John Carlson, Mark Zacchio, Heather Maguire, and Dan Polhamus — reflecting on their experiences serving Avon.

We also warmly invite all current and former elected officials to attend and be recognized for their service to our community.
