Our 47th official "Guided hike with award winning miniature donkeys" was another absolutely breathtaking experience under the gorgeous Colorado sun! The donkeys were ready - the humans were ready - the mountains were ready! These gals looked like pros on their first donkey outing, and come prepared with plenty of questions to expand their equine knowledge. Although the colors of the leaves "had peaked" already, we still got some vibrant colors under the aspens during our stroll, and I think the donkeys and the humans really bonded out on the trails. I can say with great confidence that I believe we will be seeing these gals again!

Do you have friends, family, colleagues, etc. in town visiting and you want to give them the ultimate Colorado experience while they are here?! Look no further! CRATES Colorado, featuring the Team Poppie donkeys, based right here in Park County, is now thrilled to be offering "Guided Hikes with award winning miniature donkeys" for your next adventure! This 2.5 - 3 hour experience is for groups of 2-8 people, each of whom is paired with one of our adorable, loving miniature donkeys, ALL of whom have won awards in several of the local and out of state "pack burro races", born right here in the mining towns of Colorado over 75 years ago. These gentle (yet speedy!) creatures will accompany you through an absolutely breathtaking hike, guided by Kevin Mac. Kevin, or "Coach Mac" is a local burro enthusiast who has shaken up the donkey racing scene in just a few short years with wins all over the country, who's true passion for not only these animals, but also the sport of burro-racing has sparked interest from folks all ages and skill levels alike, and already created several new racers in the sport. 🏆🌎

Each hike will offer unforgettable views, non-stop photo opportunities with the donkeys, all the equipment you will need for success, fun donkey facts and stories throughout the hike from a local burro racer, an epic trip into the Colorado wilderness and of course an unforgettable hike with your favorite new hiking buddy, all for only $95 per person. Please feel free to shoot us a message or give us a call with any questions you may have. If you're ready to book, simply follow the link to our website at the bottom of this thread to reserve your group’s donkey adventure today! Our 46th official "Guided hike with award winning miniature donkeys" was one of the most peaceful, gorgeous hikes of the year! This lovely couple joined us from a couple towns over, and they had been looking forward to their guided donkey hike since they had heard about our new service. It was evident that these adventure-seekers loved donkeys, and by the end of the adventure I think they were ready to purchase a couple of donkeys of their own. Although the temperatures have gotten a bit cooler, this was truly the perfect hiking temperature! Every now and then we get the trails "all to ourselves" and today was totally one of those days!

Our 45th official "Guided hike with award winning miniature donkeys" was another ladies' hiking day out on the trails! We have been reached out to by several hiking groups over the summer, but the ladies' hiking groups throughout Colorado are the real bad@sses here! This is the 4th hiking group that has come out and joined the donkeys under the beautiful Colorado sun this year, and each group has done nothing short of spectacular. These gals truly brought the good vibes, high energy, and what else?! CARROTS, of course! If the donkeys could rank their favorite hikes of the summer, I believe that this would be one of them!

Quick-Draw @ McGraw 2025 photos! 📸💚🏔💚👣🏃🏽‍♀️

Last year, CRATES Colorado organized and ran the inaugural "Quick-Draw @ McGraw" trail race, a super technical and challenging 2.1 mile trail course that weaved and winded through the Morrow Loop trail system. These trails, located just south of the Keystone bridge in McGraw Park, offer scenic views of Bailey, all while taking you on an adventure through some of the most rewarding and hardly used trails in all of Park County.

Will Aguyao took home 1st place for the Men's division on last year's course with a super-fast time of 16:23, and Paula Maddox took home 1st place for the Women's division with another speedy time of 22:44. Last year's race saw just over 30 participants, and we are hoping to see that number jump close to 50 this year!

Are you ready to tackle the rugged 2.1 mile trail course this year?! Or do you think you have what it takes to be the "Last SQUATCH Standing", and complete 6 loops over 6 hours?!?! Hit that link below and signup for the madness today!

Our 44th official "Guided hike with award winning miniature donkeys" was by far one of the most scenic hikes of the year! If you are a fan of that cool, colorful and cozy fall weather, then September hikes are for you. This lovely couple joined us after attending several burro races last year and wanted to hear all about the "behind the scenes" of burro racing, something we love talking about! One common misconception about burro racing is that everyone is "in it to win it", and that couldn't be further from the truth. Once I told these folks that most people at the back are just walk/jogging and are there with hopes to check a burro race off their bucket list, I think they both realized they could be out there doing it too! Want to learn more about donkeys, while also learning about the cool events they do here in Colorado? Do as these folks did, and book your donkey hike today!

"Quick-Draw @ McGraw" Trail Race Series is back!!!! 🏔🏃💚

Come on down and walk, jog, run, join us while tackling the TOUGHEST 2 mile trail course you will ever encounter; or, if you're brave enough, you can take on the newest endurance challenge CO has to offer...

"The Last SQUATCH Standing!" 💪👣🏃‍♀️🏃🏾🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️👣💪

Each runner will need to complete the 2.1 mile loop EVERY "hour", for 6 hours straight! What's the catch? 5 minutes will be DEDUCTED from each hour, every hour! If you don't complete the loop, and be back on the start line for the next loop, you're OUT! Participants will receive a prize for EACH loop finished, and the fastest male and female finisher on the last loop will be crowned the last squatch standing AND receive CASH prize! 💵💲🤑💲💸

This event is being run and organized by Crates Colorado on behalf of the Park County Historical Society. Proceeds benefit the historical society, McGraw Memorial Park and it's ongoing improvement projects - we truly appreciate the support of our community!

*** This is not a burro racing event, but is great practice for those grueling hills that you will get to face in most burro races. Rumor has it, however, some donkeys will be present for the event... 👣💚
