My buddy and I left Baker City, Oregon 2 weeks ago on our 2017 BMW r1200gs motorcycles for a 4,500 mile 12 state ride. By the time we got around to Sturgis, SD. we weren't sure if our back tires would make it home so we booked some service time at Sturgis BMW to get some new rear tires installed. My buddy has been thinking about buying a Goldwing for a while and he spotted a very clean newer used Goldwing on the showroom floor. After sitting on it he realized it was much too small for him. But right next to it sat the mighty BMW K1600 Grand America. After throwing a leg over it he realized that this bike fit him much better. The salesman quickly offered him a test ride which he accepted. 20 minutes later he returns to the dealership and asks them how much they will give him for the GS. 20 minutes later the K1600 was his.
The next morning we leave Sturgis and head to Crazy Horse then up to the Devil's Tower. Not 3 minutes after leaving the Tower an antelope runs full blast into Mike's newly purchased K1600 turning the front tire into a full left lock. Mike immediately does a swan dive off the bike at around 55 mph and begins sliding on hands and knees down the highway. I'm hard on the brakes and watching my friend spin a 180 and now he is facing my bike. His bike slides into oncoming traffic and hits a new Ford F350 King Ranch head on. The explosion is deafening. The bike flies through the air and lands on the opposite side of the highway only feet from where Mike was laying. I immediately ran to Mike and he got up and said "I'm ok". Mike was outfitted head to toe in Klim gear, boots, pants, jacket and helmet. He attributes his safety to this companies products. Wear your gear all the time has become a redundant saying but please head the warning, your life actually depends on it. After hours dealing with the Wyoming State Police, medical staff and tow trucks we ended up back in Sturgis. The following morning we were waiting at Sturgis BMW when they opened. A second K1600 was purchased so that we could finish our trip back to Oregon. We arrived home a few days later safe and sound.

Managed a 200 mile loop into Hell's Canyon today. It was nice to see it green for once.

Been super busy lately getting bikes ready after the longest winter I've ever dealt with. 4 weeks out on a 3,500+ miles loop around the western United states on the BMW'S.

Colorado-Wyoming 2021 is in the books. 13 days and 4,500 miles, 20 high altitude mountain passes, numerous close calls with the local constables, no flat tires or break downs. We came, we rode hard and we survived. Saw one moose but didn't have time to take a photo. Got eaten alive by mosquitoes in Alpine, Wyoming. In Aspen, Colorado they looked at us like we had the plague. Found a motel every night even though most were iffy at best. Met a lot of very nice people. For some reason Grand Junction, Colorado residents were very friendly and talkative and couldn't stop asking questions or giving us the thumbs up signal. Time to clean up the gear and start planning our next big adventure. Hopefully Canada will open the border so we can go explore British Columbia soon.

Sorry for being so quiet around here but I've been hammered at my day job and just haven't had a lot of free time. But that's about to take a very drastic change very soon. I'm almost ready to head out and explore the entire State of Colorado for 16 wonderful days. I'm taking a fresh set of tires with me just in case I happen to wear out my freshly mounted set.
Lots of photos to come for sure. And if you have any must ride roads or trails please let me know.

I am rarely ever super impressed by a product or company. It seems these days all that matters to most companies is to make a quick buck without regard to quality. Let me say that this is absolutely not the case with Klim motorcycle gear. I have purchased 2 Klim Jackets in the last 6 months and they are without a doubt some of the finest built and best fitting jackets on the market. If any of you are on the fence about Klim gear because of the cost I can say that I am the biggest penny pincher out there but their gear is worth every penny.

Spent the day in Hell's Canyon with the T7 boys. I'm telling you what...... those new Yamaha 700's are one of the best dual sport motorcycles that have ever been made.
