GOC, GOA, GOF, SAF and CRPA are plaintiffs in Richards v. Newsom, challenging California’s mandate requiring federally licensed fi***rm dealers — including home-based FFLs — to maintain video and audio surveillance.

A three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit ruled 2–1 against us, allowing California’s surveillance mandate to stand.

But Judge Kenneth Lee dissented, warning:

“The First Amendment shrivels under the constant surveillance of even a benevolent Big Brother.”

Judge Lee also warned that people are “wary of speaking freely if they know that they are being audiotaped,” especially when the government may later listen to those conversations.

Running a lawful business from your home should not require surrendering your privacy to government-mandated surveillance.

Your business. Your home. Your privacy.

This fight is far from over.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Randy Brooks, former owner of Barnes Bullets.

He was a true innovator whose ideas helped shape the shooting and hunting industry.

Innovation moves our industry forward, and Randy’s legacy will continue to be felt for generations to come.

What began with Mark’s passion, ingenuity, and determination grew into something much bigger: a company, a community, and a legacy that continues to move forward.

Under the dedicated leadership of his wife and our President, Carol Craighead, CrossBreed has continued to grow while remaining grounded in the values and principles Mark established from the very beginning. His influence can still be felt in the products we create, the people who make them, and the customers and community we are privileged to serve.

Today, we remember the man who started it all—and we're reminded that time is one of life's greatest gifts. Make the moments count.
