Conditions at Anacapa Island today were amazing with a water temperature of 68 to 71 at 40 feet and visibility from 50 to 75 feet. That is the warmest I have ever felt at Anacapa. Had lots of lobster, two bat rays and a seal lay down beside me less than three feet away.

We have 19 club members, which includes several of our veterans, leaving on the Raptor dive boat from Ventura to the Channel Islands. I will give a dive condition report after the trip.

Some photos from yesterday’s Try Scuba in a Pool event at the Racquet Club. We made over $2500.00 for our free veterans scuba program and had 72 participants try scuba diving in the pool. Thank you to the participants for coming out and supporting us and thank you to the 16 volunteers. Great fun!

Martha and I decided we needed one more trip this summer. So, we went to San Salvador, Bahamas. Here are some photos from around the island. The resort was very basic, so I didn’t add much from it except the view from our room and it is the yellow buildings in one photo. This island is the home to Columbus’ first landing in 1492 and that is the purpose of the cross to commemorate him setting foot in the Americas. The diving was decent with lots of sharks.

So, how do you know if the dive master or dive guide on your boat still loves to dive. Pretty simple, how long are your dives. This is a sample of our diving in Papua New Guinea in June. We did not do a dive under 60 minutes. The DM’s name was Albert and he has roughly 30,000+ dives and he still loves it. Great trip and great memories.

Martha and I just completed a seven night stay at Ramon’s Village on Ambergris Caye (San Pedro) in Belize. We were checking it out for the club warm water trip for 2028. For those who are not aware this island was the inspiration for the Madonna hit “Isla Bonita.” More information will come when we get closer to the trip.
