Please get this out to any of your CCW holders you instruct or recently re-qualified. The Licensing Unit at Sheriff's Office Headquarters is opening every Wednesday from 8 am- 4 pm by "Appointment Only" for the purpose of renewing CCW permits. Please have them email [email protected] and request an appointment for renewal. They should have ALL there required documents uploaded to the application so we keep the appointment intervals short. As I was hesitant of the "30 day grace period" in the first place, I was told to put it out to you all. We are hearing the DOJ is not going to allow permits to extend past their 2 year expiration date. So we are here to keep expiring permits current. New applications will not be the priority as we are not offering Live scan fingerprinting services until the COVID-19 situation improves.

Some CCW holders have been hesitant to go forward with the renewal process in order to comply with the non-essential gathering orders. I have spoken to many of you and recommended vendors and renewal applicants utilize online instruction/testing for the 4- hour renewal course and keep the range qualifications to the minimum standards set by the Kern County Sheriff's Office and DOJ. This should help the overall COVID-19 situation, while keeping our CCW holders current.

Hey everyone.. just got some new updates for CCW's

Update effective January 1st 2019 Jerry Brown approved assembly bill number AB 2103
There have been changes to the CCW courses
All holders will need to put all of the information of all your fi****ms on your permit.
1. make and model of all on your fi****ms on your permit.
2. The serial numbers of all the fi****ms on your permit.
3. Your driver's license information name the driver's license number and your date of birth.
This will go on a new form, It is called a Fi****ms qualification card it has to be filled out for each firearm on your permit and turned in with the certificate of completion of course of Fire.
They are changing the rules on ccw the new rules are if you have more then one
firearm on your permit you have to qualify with each firearm.
The vendor can charge you for each firearm you qualify with.
Now you have to qualify with each firearm so if you have 3 fi****ms you have to qualify with each one.
So that would be three courses of Fire and you can be charged for each firearm vendors prerogative for the price of each firearm.
Please look up assembly bill number AB 2103 that goes into effect on January 1st 2019.
