ESTRADA HEADS TO BOOT CAMP

Today, Liberty High School graduate and former wrestler Adrian Estrada, surrounded by his family, friends, and coach, shipped out to begin his two months of boot camp for the United States Marine Corps.

Adrian steps into this next chapter already shaped by the demands of wrestling, discipline, grit, accountability, and the ability to stay composed under pressure. The same lessons learned on the mat will now serve him in one of the most challenging environments he will ever face.

Wrestling doesn’t just build wrestlers ,it builds future Marines.

We are proud of you, Adrian.

Mac was selected as the recipient of the Prince Michael Forever 15 Entrepreneurial Legacy Scholarship.

Throughout the interview process, he demonstrated a strong entrepreneurial spirit resilience, and determination. His commitment to building his business, even in the face of challenges, truly reflects the legacy this scholarship was created to honor.

Prince Michael had a vision of becoming an entrepreneur, and Mac's drive and initiative embody that same spirit.

Volunteers place flags on veterans’ graves ahead of Memorial Day in Kern County

Volunteers spent Friday afternoon placing American flags on veterans’ graves ahead of Memorial Day, continuing a tradition organizers say helps the community recognize the sacrifices made by local veterans and their families.

The Kern County Veterans Service Department will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday at Historic Union Cemetery, located at 730 Potomac Avenue.

Jose Lopez, director of the Kern County Veterans Service Department, said a wide range of community members turned out to help with the flag placement.

“We had Garces High School, probation, nurses, Boy Scout troops, Liberty High (wrestling), a lot of amazing people from the community lending a hand,” Lopez said.

2026 FLAG PLACEMENT DAY

On the Friday leading up to Memorial Day, our Liberty High School wrestlers, their families and friends took time to serve something bigger than themselves. This is our 4th year serving this event.

At the Historic Union Cemetery, they honored our fallen heroes by placing American flags at each grave, one by one, with respect and purpose.

This isn’t just about tradition. It’s about remembering the sacrifice, showing gratitude, and understanding what it truly means to represent something greater than yourself.

Proud of these young men and women for the way they carry themselves on and off the mat.
