National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month is observed in September. It is dedicated to educating children and their families on how to prevent childhood obesity. Unfortunately, 1-in-5 children in the United States are obese. Childhood obesity puts kids at risk for health problems once seen only in adults, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

We encourage communities, health professionals, and families to work together to raise awareness about the obesity epidemic and show people how to work towards a solution. Stay tuned to our series this month to learn about Healthy Eating Patterns, Moving More as a Family, Setting Consistent Sleeping Routines, and more!
