A new milestone for our dancers!

City Ballet of Maryland is now an American Ballet Standards Institute (ABSI) Registered School. Our existing curriculum meets ABSI’s nine-level ballet standards.

Beginning in May 2027, eligible dancers may complete an ABSI examination and receive an official level certificate. We can’t wait to celebrate their progress with them!

🩰 Technique Friday: The power of a good plié

A plié is more than bending your knees. Keep your heels grounded, let your knees track over your toes, and grow tall through your spine as you lower and rise.

That foundation supports everything from jumps to turns. Try a few slow pliés this weekend and notice how balanced you feel! ✨
