Great Chesapeake Bay 4.4 Mile Swim & 1 Mile Bay Challenge The Great Chesapeake Bay 4.4 Mile Swim & 1 Mile Bay Challenge is on Sunday June 14, 2026. It includes the following events: Great Chesapeake 4.4 Mile Bay Swim and Great Chesapeake 1 Mile Bay Challenge.

How does the lottery work?

We can have 600 swimmers on the beach for the 4.4 mile swim, so each round of the lottery we allow 200 swimmers to accept or decline.

Round 1 just happened, and we had about 100 folks who were chosen from the lottery list and the other 100 were swimmers who either didn't swim in 2025 and were owed a guaranteed spot for us having to cancel in 2024, OR they are our longevity swimmers (15+ crossings and you get to bypass the lottery).

So YES, Round 1 is always the smallest list of swimmers from the lottery as we only draw the first 100.

Round 2 will happen on December 15th at noon. Round 2 will be another 200 swimmers, all from the lottery

Round 3 will round out our numbers with whatever needs to be filled in. If we only have 375 swimmers registered at the end of Round 2, then Round 3 will have 225 swimmers drawn.

We will have all of our swimmers locked in by January 15th, 2026, for the 4.4 mile swim. As we draw the swimmers we will post their names here and on the website.

THE 1 MILE SWIM WILL OPEN UP ON JANUARY 1ST, 2026, AND HAS NO LIMIT

If your name is on this list, then congratulations on being selected in Round 1 of the lottery. You will receive an email tonight (already went out) with a Google Form link to complete by Dec 15th, 2025 at noon. This Google Form gives you the ability to:

1) Accept your entry
2) Decline your entry from Round 1 but be put in for later rounds
3) Decline your entry from Round 1 and remove yourself from the lottery.

IF you are holding out, waiting to see if one of your friends gets in (or a family member) please go ahead and accept your entry, and hopefully they can join you

If we don't hear from you by December 15th at noon, via that Google Form, then we will put you back in for another round.
