Bandera Cross Country Recap – September 5, 2026
The Bandera Cross Country teams competed at their home meet Saturday at Bandera City Park and had a great showing across all four teams.
The Varsity Lady Bulldogs started the morning with several runners posting big personal bests. As a team, the girls took 1st place, finishing ahead of district competitor Fredericksburg. Junior Kaylee Fried led the Lady Bulldogs with a 3rd-place finish. Milesia Casas (6th), Cassi Williams (9th), and Veronica Ibarra-Villegas (11th) all medaled with top-20 finishes. Olivia Rynarzewski rounded out the top five for Bandera, placing 14th. Other varsity finishers were Merry Robinson (23rd), Aubrie Moore (26th), Addison Ashcraft (27th), Briley Clark (30th), and Amy Rodriguez (46th).
The JV Lady Bulldogs also had a strong race, finishing 2nd as a team behind Fredericksburg. Jada Bergfield led Bandera in 5th, followed by Sydney Bowman (6th), Xoi Cook (7th), Autumn Prater (8th), Abigail Sizemore (12th), Vanessa Gonzales (14th), Emma Rynarzewski (15th), Abigail Gilbert (16th), and Maricel Casas (19th). All nine Lady Bulldogs finished in the top 20 and earned medals.
The Varsity Boys finished 9th overall, led by Luciano Martinez, who placed 27th with a time of 18:39. Other top finishers were Rudy Esparza, Walter Roque, and Michael Ramirez. All 10 varsity boys improved their 5K times from last week by one minute or more.
The JV Boys finished 6th overall and were led by freshman Kash Griffith, who placed 27th with a time of 23:53. Other top finishers were Samuel Hernandez, Talin Edwards, and Ashton Vargas. All of the JV boys also improved their 5K times from their previous meet.
