River City Maine Providing opportunities to youth soccer players in the Penobscot River region to train in the winter, and play on competitive teams in the spring in Maine.

"River City was established to meet the needs of the youth sports community of Eastern, Central and Northern Maine. The goal is to provide affordable option for all families and athletes to develop their skills and ability while keeping the passion for the sport they love. We want to do this in a safe, and friendly environment with a highly trained staff committed to all players of all skill levels. We will provide teams to compete in leagues and tournaments against competitive teams of similar skill level within the state of Maine. The focus will be on skill and growth first, with competition secondary. We want to win if at all possible, not at all costs."

Dear River City Athletics Families,

We're excited to share several updates on the club's progress:

Winter Training Facility Secured
We've secured our winter training facility at the Mahaney Dome at the University of Maine. This ensures our players have a strong indoor training environment throughout the winter months.

Quirk Sportsplex Progress
The Board continues to meet regularly with First National Bank regarding financing progress on the Quirk Sportsplex project. In addition, Board members are holding weekly progress meetings with our general contractor, Haley Ward Architects, the dome manufacturer, and relevant subcontractors to keep the project moving forward.

Permitting with the Town of Hampden
We are actively working through the permitting process with the Town of Hampden and will keep everyone informed as this progresses.

Spring Evaluations — Save the Date
Spring Evaluations will be held Sunday November 8th. These will be competitive tryouts so all players interested in playing on a River City team you are required to attend. There is a $15 fee for the tryout, we will have a registration link coming out soon.

Spring Play Update
We are still working through where each of our teams will play in 2027, we do have a meeting on the calendar for this week with the New England Club Soccer League after months of trying to set up a conversation in a variety of ways. This will be our first conversation with the league administration. We also have a framework in place for a tournament only schedule that would begin in March. The board is weighing all options equally to determine which will be the best for our athletes, families and our soccer community.

Our England Exchange trip is coming to a close. Both teams finished with come from behind ties with the boys earning a 3-3 tie with Chorleywood FC and the girls earning a 2-2 tie vs Evergreen FC.

Tomorrow is host family day then we head home on Tuesday. It has been an awesome trip and we are so thankful to the host families and leadership at St Clement Danes School for making our trip truly memorable.

Next summer we will host their boys and girls teams so if any families would like to host, please reach out to MJ.

England Exchange program with 31 players and 2 coaches has begun. Players are out of jet lag and have had a great trip so far. Great weather and competitions.

Boys have played 3 games and lost 3-1, tied 0-0 and lost 3-0.

Girls have played 3 games and won 7-0, lost 4-2 and won 3-0.

Trip to London with shopping, the London Eye and the River Thames boat tour.

Still to come - visit to Lords Cricket Ground for match between London Spirit and Manchester Super Giants, visits to Arsenal Stadium, Tottenham Stadium Tour and a visit Wembley stadium plus shopping.

Watford vs Herta Rostov preseason match, 2 more trainings and our final game.

Another weekend of tournament play for some of the River City teams. We know the U12 Boys Black will complete their group play at the Northeast Regional of the Presidents Cup in Connecticut at 1pm Saturday.

Our U9 Boys Green are in Waterville for Quincy's Cup action.

And in Vermont for the Alliance Cup the U10 Boys Black, U13 Boys, U14 Boys Black, U15 Girls, and U16 Boys Black all start their pool play this morning.

Good luck to our RCA players, families and coaches this weekend.

Anyone have a bobcat skid with a bucket on the front we can use tomorrow to move piles of rubber infill?

Last chance to grab some turf rolls. We have all sizes. Can be used for garage training space, cut into smaller pieces for disc golf tee boxes or whatever you’d like.

Pick up your turf rolls and some rubber infill and make a donation.

We will be working 10am - 2pm

Looking for something to do on June 19th and 20th?

We are ripping the turf out from 10am-2pm at Fields4Kids on Friday and Saturday and maybe Sunday if needed. Come get dirty with us.

Bring a shovel for the rubber and be ready to work in clothes you do not care about. We will have masks.

Also - concert parking behind McDonalds on Saturday nights Jelly Roll concert. All monies go directly to Quirk Sportsplex.
