JYMS 7th/8th Grade Football

Updates for Week 2 of the 7th/8th Grade Season!!

We will have practice on Labor Day - September 7th from 3:45 - 5:30 pm on the JYMS Field and we will be handing out our game jerseys during practice on Wednesday September 9th.

Day 3 of Practice for 7th/8th Grade featured the first day in Full Pads!! The players were loving being able to make contact and it was fantastic to hear the pads popping with a nice breeze blowing through the practice field! The athletes were excited to get that football feeling back as we progressed through a defensive emphasis practice that included tackling circuits, defensive position drills and going against each other in team time.

As a reminder, we will be in full pads unless otherwise instructed from here on out. Full pads includes helmet, mouthguards, shoulder pads, practice jerseys, 5 padded girdle under athletic shorts and cleats. The blue game pants and knee pads are worn only on game days.

The entire 7th/8th Grade program is excited for the second day in full pads on Friday!

We had a fantastic first day of practice on the field yesterday at the 7th/8th Grade level! Despite the higher temperatures and humidity, our players and coaches gave their best effort the entire practice and got better as football players and student-athletes!

We are excited to celebrate our first day in full pads this afternoon!

Day 2 of Practice for JYMS Football - Helmets, Practice Jerseys, Mouthguards, Shorts, Cleats.

We will be outside today for practice. All FB gear should be placed in the locker room at the start of the school day. After school, the locker room will be unlocked for athletes to change into their gear and head out to the JYMS Field. All belongings come with to practice.

In the event of heavy rain/storms, we will still have practice but move to be indoors for film/chalk talk and strength and conditioning in the weight room and classroom.
