I’ve made the decision to cancel our Moonbow Bash tournament scheduled for September 19–20 in Somerset.

A local tournament is being held that weekend to support Millee Kate, a precious 7-year-old from the Corbin, KY area who has been diagnosed with DIPG. Some things are simply bigger than baseball, and we believe this is one of those times.

We are asking ALL teams that were planning to play with us that weekend to please consider reaching out and entering their tournament instead. Let’s take the teams, families, coaches, and players who would have spent that weekend with us and put that support behind Millee Kate and her family.

Please keep Millee Kate and her family in your prayers, and let’s show them just how strong the baseball community can be.

⚾️🥎 BIG THINGS COMING IN 2027! 🥎⚾️

We’re excited to announce that beginning with the 2027 Spring/Summer season, B.A.T. will be hosting both USSSA Baseball & USSSA Softball!

Along with adding softball, we are also expanding our schedule to multiple new venues, giving teams more locations, more opportunities to play, and an even bigger tournament lineup throughout the season.

This has been our first year, and we’ve learned a lot along the way. We’re committed to taking those lessons, listening to feedback, and continuing to improve the tournament experience for our teams, coaches, players, and families.

For now, we’re focused on finishing this season strong and continuing to provide the best events we can.

Most importantly, THANK YOU to every team that has played with us and every coach and parent who has trusted us to host your kids. We know you have choices when deciding where to play, and we truly appreciate every team that has stepped onto one of our fields.

We’re just getting started.

Bluegrass Appalachian Tournaments — Roster Protest Policy Update

In an effort to promote fairness, transparency, consistency, and player safety, Bluegrass Appalachian Tournaments (B.A.T.) will be implementing the following policy regarding roster-related protests moving forward.

While the protest process will continue to follow the general structure of USSSA guidelines, B.A.T. is establishing a specific deadline for roster protests at events operated by our organization.

Effective immediately, all roster-related protests must be declared at the pregame plate meeting, prior to the first pitch of the game.

Both head coaches and the game umpires will be present at the plate meeting, providing each team an opportunity to raise any legitimate roster or player-eligibility concern before play begins.

The standard protest requirements will apply:

• Only the official head coach or team manager may initiate a roster protest.
• A $100 cash protest fee must be submitted before the protest will be reviewed.
• If the protest is upheld, the $100 fee will be refunded.
• Once the first pitch has been thrown, no roster-related protest for that game will be accepted.

We believe establishing this deadline is in the best interest of everyone involved.

Roster protests should be based on a legitimate eligibility concern—not used strategically after a game has begun or based on the score or circumstances of the game. Addressing these matters before the first pitch ensures that any eligibility question can be resolved before it affects competition.

Most importantly, this policy helps protect our players. If a player is determined to be ineligible, we believe that determination should be made before that player takes the field, rather than after he or she has already participated and potentially been exposed to unnecessary risk of injury.

Our goal is not to discourage legitimate protests. Our goal is to make sure they are handled fairly, consistently, transparently, and at the appropriate time.

We appreciate our coaches and organizations working with us as we continue to provide a competitive and positive tournament environment throughout our region.
