We had an incredibly eventful weekend in Oxford Maine for the 250 weekend!

After truck problems and down to having to leave the car at home and skip the race Evan Levesque jumped in to save the day by driving the trailer and race car up for us on Friday morning! We arrived just in time for the SLM practice with driver Skip Stanley…after practice, a run back to Rochester, NH was on tap to get the repaired truck for the weekend.

Saturday we would roll into the track for Stone’s first attempt at an ACT late model race. We entered with very low expectations as some say this is one of the most competitive race series around not to mention he had yet to run a full race in the car not to mention over the past week we changed the car from front to back thanks to a huge amount of help from Jeremy Davis and Davis Chassis Works we can’t thank you enough!!!

Stone rolled out for first practice on old tires to get a feel for a track he has never raced on before then. Round two we went out to scuff tires before pitting to swap back to the old tires for the rest of the session.

As we were ready to rollout for round three the car wouldn’t start…had to use a jump pack to get it to start but it would not stay running…mom and Buzzette(Mimi) would jump in the truck to run for a new battery but after we rolled him back to the pits we found a bad pulley bushing on the alternator caused us to throw a belt. We learned that we had an uncommon pulley with none in the pits. Thank you to Skip Stanley who offered to let us run to his shop to get anything we might need…after two 45 minute wound trips and a stop at the auto parts store we hoped we might get it fixed…no dice!!! Couldn’t find the right size belt.

Stone ran the heat and consi with no alternator. For his first time in race form he was VERY competitive staying right with the lead pack!

With no fix available we made the call to charge the battery as much as possible and run until the battery gave up…with his transponder wires into his helmet blower (quickest thing we could wire to at almost 3am the other night) the call was made to clip the battery wire for the blower so it was going to be a long hot race for Stone!!!

We rolled out 27th out of 39 cars and Stone drove a fantastic race…avoiding multiple wrecks with the help of Bryce Saucier up in the spotters stand being his eyes…Thank you Bryce!!

We made a couple pit stops to check out the car and be sure the grill stayed clean as we were tying to save power not running the radiator fan…

Crew chief David Cameron made the call to bring Stone in for a stager adjustment where Buzz (Larry Dumais) showed at 83 he still has it going over the wall to handle the tire adjustment to get Stone set for the closing laps. Thank you both for making it happen on pit stops!

Stone would loose just 1 lap under green in the 125 lap race (lost a second when he spun on the front stretch to avoid a wreck).

We would finish the day +6 in 21st place (he was up to (19th at one point) with the car in one piece…far far far exceeded our expectations!!!

Matthew Bolz and Curtis Cameron were there all day doing what needed to be done for us to pull off race days like these! Thank you both!

Finally to our amazing marketing partners none of this is possible without you…Thank you…

Sunday we would be back at the track for the Oxford 250 with Skip Stanley with Stone handling the spotter duties for the day…while a lap 92 wreck ended our night early it was a great experience with an even better group of people!!!

Another day of learning and improving at the track! After struggling for weeks with power issues and getting them resolved last weekend we were able to focus on setup and handling. Wholesaler changes are behind us and we are making small tweaks to find the handle…only a couple tenths off the front runners and we will close that gap!

We knew coming into this year that our hold back would not be with the driver but us figuring out the setup of the race car…we have chosen not to take the easy route and bring the car someplace and pay to have it setup but instead work through the issues and learn the car!

We rolled in P6 tonight just outside the top 5…he was gaining out the fifth place car but ran out of laps

Can’t thank the crew enough for all their hard work week in and week out…Bryce, Matt, Curtis, Dave and Buzz, we couldn’t do it without you all!

None of this is possible without the best sponsors in the business…a huge thank you to all of them!!!

Stone Slattery will be back behind the wheel of the 99 Chevy Camaro Late Model this Saturday at The Place to Race Star Speedway for 75 laps of action!!! After many weeks of trying to get the car handling to his liking he had the most comfortable car to drive yet…unfortunately we were lacking power but the new valve springs will go in this week to hopefully correct that.

Note the earlier start time for the 4th to get everyone on their way for their favorite fireworks celebration…racing starts at 3pm!!!

We have the option to buy 4 tires this week and after some heavy expenses the past few weeks we are doing something we don’t normally do…looking to see if anyone would like to help out with the weekly tire and fuel bill…tires are $185 a piece and fuel is $14.00 a gallon!!! Not you regular unleaded anymore!!!

If anyone is interested in helping out there is a Venmo listed in the pictures or feel free to reach out!!!

As always none of this is possible with out our great sponsors…
