1927 Ford

Received a text from my 'ol buddy Brad Lindig a few days back, it said "It may be a few years late but here we come !" After I went through the photos that accompanied the text, I'd say the wait was well worth it.
If you know anything about Mr Lindig's hot rods, he likes em rowdy as hell, and this one appears to fall right in line.
I'm super happy for Brad, I absolutely love it. I just may need to be your co-pilot for that Friday Reliability Run !

Family Showcase:

James Smith / 1956 F100

Growing up in Walnut Creek, California, my neighbor Bob Flaner introduced me to the world of classic cars and hot rods. As a kid, I spent countless hours riding around with him in his ’56, never knowing how much those memories would shape my own story.

In the summer of 1981, my friend Jim and I went to San Jose to pick up my 1956 Ford F-100. It became my daily driver, and I even took my future wife on our first date in it at the drive-in.

By 1985, the truck was off the road. Over the next three decades, it followed us from Concord to Placerville, waiting while work, family, and life took priority.

After retiring in 2013, I made it a goal to finally bring the ’56 back to life. By 2017, it was running again, but my family convinced me it deserved a full restoration.

In December 2021, I reached out to Brandon Flaner—Bob’s grandson and someone I’ve known his entire life. Having the grandson of the man who first introduced me to hot rods restore my ’56 made the project feel like it had come full circle.

In March 2023, we delivered the truck to Brandon’s shop. In January 2026, he unveiled the finished ’56, and we immediately loaded it up and headed to the Grand National Roadster Show for its first showing.

More than 40 years after I brought it home, this truck is more than a hot rod. It’s a lifetime of memories, family, friendship, and a story that has come full circle.

FAMILY SHOWCASE:

Txema Bengochea /
1930 Ford coupe

Third-generation hot rod builder Txema Bengochea has been fabbing, wrenching, and modifying anything he could get his hands on since he was a kid. At 7, it was PVC velocity stacks and zoomie headers on his pedal car. At 9, ape hangers on his bike. At 10, a straight-piped PW50. He’s never been one to leave anything stock.

For years, Txem had his eye on a ’30 Model A coupe tucked away in the rafters of the family business. He always said he’d build it, and when life gave him the opportunity, he got to work.

After tearing his ACL during his junior year of high school, Txem shifted some of that relentless energy into two things he shares with Grandpa Dave: Fender guitars and hot rods. The two spent countless hours together working through the checklist on the coupe. or bust!

Txem has had his hands on nearly every inch of the build… drilling ’32 wishbones, backing plates and a Super Bell axle, TIG welding lightening holes, and chopping the top 5½ inches with guidance from his buddy Clayton Slaughter. The coupe wears 425 louvers, all punched at home on the family louver press. Grandpa Dave even traded him a cherry 383 SBC for the worn-out $500 Craigslist 350 he’d bought. That’s what grandpas are for!

Along the way, Txem became a welder and fabricator, earned his CDL, developed a love for 3406 CAT-powered 359 Petes, and recently joined the International Union of Operating Engineers, graduating from little Tonka toys to the really big ones.

What started as a high school kid’s “Lunch Money Coupe” has officially become a young man’s “Union Money” hot rod.

Next Stop… Bartlesville, Oklahoma !

The next generation of grassroots hot rodding is alive and well. Stay tuned.

Builder: Rad Rides / 1932 Ford Roadster

THE RITZOW 32

Some hot rods chase trends. This one set them.

Built by Rad Rides () for Roger Ritzow, this stunning 1932 Ford Roadster redefined what a traditional hot rod could be. Dubbed “high-tech traditional,” it blended timeless 1940s styling with modern engineering, including a fuel-injected 1949 Mercury flathead V8 and Tremec 5-speed transmission.

Finished in its iconic gray-green paint, the Ritzow’s ’32 earned Goodguys Street Rod of the Year in 2004 and is recognized as one of the 75 Most Significant ’32 Fords of All Time.

A perfect reminder that honoring tradition doesn’t mean standing still.

FAMILY SHOWCASE:

Chris Whittington/
1950 Ford Conv

This 1950 Ford Convertible started as a frame-off restoration to original specs before being sold at Mecum in 2017. The new owner dreamed of building a custom hot rod, but after serious health issues forced him to step away from the project, Chris at Shoebox Central purchased the car and gave it a second chance.
in California transformed the chassis with a custom 2-link rear suspension, a heavily modified Mustang II front suspension, and air ride all around. Afterward, Shoebox Central spent six months assembling, wiring, and finishing the build.

Now powered by a Ford 302 V8, C4 automatic, and 8-inch rear end, this Shoebox sits low and drives as good as it looks.

Inside, you’ll find some of the rarest Shoebox parts ever offered: a 1950 Crestliner dash, 1951 Mercury automatic column, 1955 Mercury accessory steering wheel, 1951 Ford wagon gauges, and 1955 Thunderbird dash knobs—with all new chrome throughout.

Mr. Whittington, I’m loving this Ford of yours. Thank you for joining the fun and welcome to the family!

FAMILY SHOWCASE:

Paul & Cammie Kelly /

1939 Ford Deluxe Convertible

“ Starting with a 100% stock Washington Blue 1939 Ford Deluxe Convertible, good friend to all, Billy Powell ( ) decided to hand it over to Dave Martinez ( ) in California for some custom touches. Windshield was chopped approximately 3” and Dave built one of his famous Carson Style soft tops. Dave also cleaned up some previous metal work and prepared the rear fenders for the flush 1939 Lincoln Zephyr skirts.

Suspension-wise the stock front axle and spindles were dropped 4” and spring reversed. The rear end is hung via reversed eye spring as well.

Power is delivered via stock rebuilt 221 Flathead with an offenhauser 2x2 intake topped by 2 stromberg 97s and Fenton headers.

Inside, Martinez stitched up Oxblood seats and Door Panels mixed with dark red velvet for the headliner and trim, and dash and interior pieces painted to match.

Other touches include National Flipper caps, 600-16 Firestone whitewalls, and a Columbia 2 Speed Rear end that was sourced and installed by the next owner Blake Burwell ( ).

The best thing- a Bermuda Bell mounted under the floor for dinging your way up the road. “

Thanks Paul for givin’ us the rundown on your fabulous ford. There’s been many of times that I wished my name was on the title. Come October I’m sure I will be dreamin’ again.

Welcome To The Fam !
