Three menhaden accountability bills have been signed into law — a win for Louisiana's saltwater fisheries and the saltwater anglers who call this state home.

These new laws will:
✅ INCREASE FINES for menhaden fishing violations
✅ ENHANCE VESSEL TRACKING requirement
✅ REQUIRE PUBLIC DISCLOSURE of menhaden harvest reports

CCA Louisiana thanks Reps. Vincent Cox, Jerome Zeringue, and Joseph Orgeron for their leadership on these bills — and our conservation partners: Louisiana Wildlife Federation, Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, and the Louisiana Charter Fishing for their tireless advocacy alongside us.

While our work to protect Louisiana's fisheries is far from over, we celebrate three meaningful steps forward. Thank you to every member and angler who made their voice heard this session. 🐟⚓

🛥️ JOIN US AT Swollfest!!!! 🎣 We are proud to announce that this year we will be sponsoring the Salty Kids category at Swollfest!

🎉 THIS WEEKEND, the CCA Livingston Impact Team showed up — and showed OUT.

Our volunteers cooked for players, parents, and fans at a youth baseball tournament in Denham Springs, feeding the community and representing CCA Louisiana in Livingston Parish in a big way. 🍽️⚾

Events like this are why we do what we do. CCA isn’t just about the water — it’s about the people who love Louisiana and the communities we call home.

HUGE thank you to Mark Juneau and every volunteer who gave their time this weekend. You make this organization proud. 🎣

3 bills to improve Gulf menhaden management and limit damage caused by foreign-owned industrial menhaden fishing companies have been signed into law in Louisiana, thanks to legislative pushes by Reps Cox, Zeringue, and Joseph Orgeron District 54 State Representative and overwhelming support from recreational fishing and conservation advocacy organizations.

The laws will add accountability by increasing fines for nearshore fishing violations, enhancing pogy boat tracking capabilities, and improving fishery oversight by publicizing menhaden harvest reports. TRCP thanks everyone involved in securing more steps toward modernizing the menhaden fishery into a more sustainable, ecosystem-based fishery.
