The new ConocoPhillips Pelto Island Reef is in the water. 🎣

Big thanks to danos for the construction expertise that got this one done right — AND for the photos you're looking at right now. Their crew brought the boots-on-the-ground know-how that turns a plan on paper into structure on the bottom, and then handed us the images to prove it.

This one came together through a strong partnership: ConocoPhillips and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries made the project possible, and Danos brought it across the finish line.

Pelto Island sits on the site of the historic Lake Pelto sulphur mine in Terrebonne Parish — a spot with a lot of history and now a lot of new habitat. Projects like this only happen when the right partners show up.

TODAY, the next chapter of Pelto Island begins. ⚓ 🎣

For decades, anglers up and down Louisiana have known this spot simply as “the Sulphur Mine,” a legendary speckled trout destination that’s slowly been slipping beneath the waterline. Today, CCA Louisiana is proud to announce the Pelto Island Reef, a major habitat expansion built in partnership with sponsor ConocoPhillips and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Crews are on site right now expanding the footprint of this historic site and installing an array of NATRX exoforms, engineered reef structures manufactured right here in Louisiana by danos at their Amelia facility, designed with direct input from local fishing guides to hold and grow speckled trout and redfish for generations to come.

This spot has given Terrebonne Parish families decades of memories. Today, we’re building its next chapter.

Stay tuned for more photos and video from today’s installation.
