News from the Middle School Basketball team...

“Last night, on the way back from Jackson we stopped at the Albion McDonald's. The young men were excited with this opportunity and ordered their meals and ate in the dining room. They did a nice job with this process and mixed well with the other patrons. When it was time to go Coach McKnight and I asked them to clean up their area and take care of their waste.

This is what they did...

They cleaned up every table in the dining room, got rags and washed every table in the dining room (except those in use), bussed a table for an elderly man, swept the floor clean with brooms, helped the manager empty all the waste cans, and straightened up the counter (their ideas coaches encouragement). As they did this the staff at McDonald's watched in dismay; no group had ever done this before. As the team left to board the bus, many of them told the McDonald's staff good-bye and thanked them. After the young men had exited, the manager and every patron in McDonald's told coach and I that they had never seen anything like this and it in some way renewed their faith in today's youth. They asked where we were from and were told the Battle Creek Public Schools.
