oh man am i late with this one--where did the time go?!? looking at our summer intensive this year makes me want to go back to that time of good friends and good training and good laughs. gave us our third class of that day, and i keep replaying it over and over ❤️❤️❤️
Long Island-Aikikai
One of the oldest Aikido dojo in the continental United States. Over 50 years of tradition.
next up we had (alternatively ) who is always a blast--i'm just glad he wasn't sick of us after he had to deal with us all the way to toronto for caf's summer camp 🤣🤣🤣 he got a little nikkyo a little shiho a little bitta dis a little bitta dat for us this time but we had a fun if dizzying time playing with spirals!
slowly going through my vids now and first class was alllll Christopher (not to be confused with Adam G. Pilipshen but they are close enough to be brothers so i guess that makes sense)--bringing in his extensive lifetime of martial arts study not just in aikido but a plethora of other things. but i think his real secret power is going toe to toe with me in cards against humanity 😤😤😤

videos will be forthcoming but man do we know how to party~ our summer intensive is the highlight of the year and i have laughed more in the last seventy two hours than i have in *months*
We're about to kick off our annual summer intensive and BBQ~!
Saturday night we're pre-gaming with a movie night hang out at the dojo at 7pm. A movie, games, snacks, and just hanging out with our friends from near and far.
Sunday classes start at 10am, and our line-up includes Jakob Blomquist of Lunds Aikido Klubb in Sweden, Graeme Ede of Sanchin Aikido UK in Scotland, our very own Chris Bradshaw of LIA, and Adam G. Pilipshen of the LIA. (I think I can get them to shoot some fun instagram videos I have planned 😤😤)
BBQ starts at 2pm.
This is what summer feels like ☀️☀️☀️
As always, this event is free to attend, no registration necessary. BYOB (or not, we love to share). Friends and family welcome!
i CANNOT get a normal picture with these two. anyway, training at Canadian Aikido Federation / Fédération canadienne d’aïkido summer camp done. now for the real quest: i heard on the wind that i can find haggis in this here toronto so if you see someone scuttling around asking for it, it me.
maybe homeward bound early tomorrow to avoid the traffic?
bring your wife to aikido day, maybe you'll learn something? no husbands were (really) harmed in the making of this video.

our summer bash date has been set and excited doesn't even BEGIN to describe how i'm feeling right now, don't worry there's AC in the dojo so i won't let anyone roast~ the event is free as always, friends and family more than welcome (yes the bouncy house is still in operation, and some watermelons to sacrifice to the bokuto will be around.) show up for class, show up for the party, or just drop by to say hi ❤️❤️❤️

The 1968 (Shōwa 43) commemorative cloth from the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Tokyo, awarded for perfect attendance at the summer intensive (shochū-geiko), bearing the name of founder Morihei Ueshiba — Ō-Sensei.
A small piece of cloth carrying a lot of history. 🥋
