In 2026 Anna raised $1,566.80! Here are some tips from one of our top fundraisers:

1. The story is most important. Have a reason for doing it that folks can relate to.
2. Timing: I posted my story on Facebook right after mom’s memorial service. People were thinking about her.
3. Tap your people. I belong to a wonderful supportive community of active women. And another group of folks that have known both me and mom. I posted it twice on Facebook, that’s all!

P2LP Start Line 2007 and P2LP Start Line 2025. 👀We've seen incredible growth and interest in this fundraiser, selling out for the last 5 years.

👪 We've heard from families who have been swimming this event for years together, through college graduations, weddings, and babies being born.
🛟We've heard from beginner swimmers who learn to swim so they can participate in this electric event.
👴We've heard from seniors who wake up early for Master Swim groups to continue swimming this race in Lake Superior every summer.

🩵 We're so grateful to be part of these memories and to have the ongoing opportunity to host an event worth coming back for.

As a critical fundraiser for the Bayfield Rec Center we count on the revenue from this event to sustain our community center year round. Swimmers who register as fundraisers, and commit to raising $500 by June 1st 2027, guarantee their spot in the 2027 P2LP and contribute to keeping the Bayfield Rec Center open and serving the community.

"I believe my good fortune was a combination of patience and personalized messages. I used the link provided, and texted/called almost all of the contacts in my phone. Either speaking to them or adding thier name and a personal memory (rather than cut and paste) made a huge impact. Folks seemed moved by the sentiment and then inspired that maniacs swim that space for a beautiful Wisconsin community.

I was hoping for $500, then floored that my friends and family helped in a way that earned us the mug filled with blueberries, the c***r, the wearable sleeping bag."

Our 25-meter pool (The only one in a 70-mile radius available to the public) provides a training venue for a variety of entities and organizations like Fire and EMS services, The National Park Service, Kayak Outfitters, who use our pool to keep their staff trained and certified in CPR, AED, SCUBA, Lifeguarding, Rescue Readiness and more.

When you fundraise for your 2027 P2LP you are contributing to a critical facility for our youth to learn to swim and organizations to train their staff.

Ask for help - your race will be a lot more fun! 👯‍♀️

✨ Registration is now open for those who commit to fundraising a minimum of $500 for their race entry. We know this sounds like a lot, but over the years we've seen people far surpass this goal.

Asking for money can be hard. Asking for help of any kind can be hard. But it's worth it for the support you feel when your community is behind you, cheering you on. 🎉

The P2LP is a critical fundraiser for the Bayfield Rec Center. Each dollar you raise goes directly to support programs for youth, adults, families, and seniors. It allows us to provide scholarships for kids to learn to swim, sail, and be safe around water.

😍Fundraiser Registration
Participants who commit to raising a minimum of $500 can register in this slot. Participants are required to submit $100 payment that counts toward their $500 minimum. Participants must raise an additional $400, for $500 total by June 1st, 2027, or else they forfeit their spot in the 2027 race. Participants can swim in competitive or non-competitive division. Participants must set up a profile in Race Roster and submit donations through Race Roster. This is your best option to secure your spot for the 2027 Point to La Pointe. Fundraisers who raise $1000, $2500, and $5000 receive special awards.

Participants can register for their spot in the 2027 race. Registration will be $250 and must be paid at time of check out. These spots go very quickly. This sold out in 5 minutes in 2025.
