Captain Jack’s Logbook🦐🐾
Not a lot to report on this week. Maybe I’m growing up…..kinda boring….overrated actually.
I finally went sh*****ng for greentails and let me tell you, those things know how to put on a show! They came flying out of the water like tiny shrimp acrobats. When dad poured them out on the table they were just jumping everywhere.
The best part? Greentails are DELICIOUS. I performed several important taste tests for quality control. Every single one passed. I can’t wait to go back! I tried to conduct additional testing, but Dad apparently has a limit on how much “quality” one Labrador is allowed to control.
There were crabs on the boat too. Crabs remind me a lot of Simba. They’re small, angry, don’t want to play with me, and wave sharp claws when I get too close.
But I haven’t given up on Simba, and I’m not giving up on those crabs either. I am determined to make them my friends. So far, the crabs, like Simba, have declined my invitations. Repeatedly. And aggressively.
Home life was pretty great too. I played in the mud, got a bath and blow-dry, then immediately went back outside and played in the mud again.
Apparently, this was the wrong decision. Boys will be boys, they say. And this boy prefers sand and mud over smelling like lavender and poor decisions on a spa day. Mom didn’t appreciate that, so I received a very long lecture about “wasting her time.” She brought up that Facebook Marketplace again. She’s bluffing. That woman needs a girl.
This week, we went out in the center console! I took several excellent naps, did some swimming, played fetch, and felt the wind blowing through my ears. Man, that was fun!
I also got a new lobster toy. I figured lobsters are basically oversized crabs, and everyone knows those pinchers hurt. So Roxie and I immediately tore them off during a very professional game of tug-of-war. Safety first.
Mom says we “destroyed a brand-new toy in five minutes.” I say we identified a hazard, neutralized the threat, and protected the entire house from a lobster attack.
You’re welcome, Mom.
Tomorrow, we will head back out and look for more greentails. We are hoping for a safe and successful harvest and I hope you have a great week, too!
Until next time,
Captain Jack
