JG&A Veterans Depot operates on a pretty unique model for Southeast Texas, it blends a traditional gunsmith shop with a small-scale manufacturer, all under veteran ownership in Beaumont.

As a veteran-owned shop, the core is service-first. That veteran structure usually shows up in how they run the business - focus on safety, discipline, and community. That's why you see a lot of emphasis on safety classes and training at the Hwy 90 location, not just sales and repairs. It's education and trust building, not just transactions.

On the licensing side, holding a manufacturer FFL status is a big step up from a standard dealer or gunsmith license. A standard dealer is a Type 01, a gunsmith is often working under that. A Type 07 Manufacturer license lets the shop actually manufacture fi****ms and ammunition, do more extensive fabrication, and handle Class 2 work like building from receivers, not just repairing customer-owned guns. It also comes with stricter ATF compliance, record keeping, marking requirements, and inspections.

So day-to-day operations break down like this:
Gunsmith services is the foundation - cleaning, diagnostics, repairs, sight installs, trigger work, refinishing, restoration. That's bench work for local customers.

Manufacturer / custom shop is the expansion piece. With the 07, they can do full custom builds, frame and receiver work, custom fitting, and small-batch production under their own name. For customers that means if you want something built to spec rather than just modified, they can legally do it in-house.
And then training and safety. Hosting safety classes, handling, storage, and responsible ownership courses at the Beaumont location. For a lot of veteran-run shops that’s a core part of the mission - making sure folks in the community know how to handle what they own.
It’s essentially a one-stop model: repair what you have, build what you want, and train you to use it safely, all run out of that one Hwy 90 hub.
