Some more information!
🌫️ Poor Air Quality? Your Horse Feels It Too. 🐴
With smoky skies and poor air quality, it’s important to remember that horses can be affected just like people. Even healthy horses may experience irritation, while those with asthma (heaves/RAO), allergies, or other respiratory conditions are at an even greater risk.
🐎 When air quality is poor:
• Reduce or postpone strenuous exercise and training.
• Provide plenty of fresh, clean water.
• Offer hay in a way that minimizes dust (consider soaking or steaming hay if appropriate).
• Keep stalls well-ventilated, but avoid adding additional dust from sweeping or bedding during smoky conditions.
• Watch closely for signs of respiratory distress, including:
🔹 Increased respiratory rate or effort
🔹 Coughing
🔹 Nasal discharge
🔹 Exercise intolerance
🔹 Flared nostrils or labored breathing
Remember, smoke particles are extremely small and can travel deep into the lungs, even if the smoke doesn’t seem heavy.
If your horse develops difficulty breathing or their respiratory signs worsen, contact your veterinarian right away. Early intervention can help prevent more serious complications.

‼️‼️‼️IMPORTANT UPDATE‼️‼️‼️
We have decided to POSTPONE the July 18th show until August 22nd!
A special thank you to Brady's Run Parks for understanding the extenuating circumstances, and allowing us to reschedule this show.
MARK AUGUST 22 ON YOUR CALENDARS TO COME OUT AND PLAY SOME FUN GAMING EVENTS!
***Please read the post in its entirety for all updates!***
We have watched every weather briefing and more details have been brought to our attention & here is what we have learned:
1. The smoke is supposed to be gone tomorrow morning when the direction of the winds change but the projected air quality for Saturday will still be 150-200, which is still unhealthy. A graphic was posted on our page showing that with air quality that is as bad as it is today, horses should not be worked for two days afterwards. And tomorrow is projected to still be unhealthy. I am certain that most horse people are like us on the show committee and want the best for our horses. So the only responsible decision to make is to postpone so our horses are not compromised, nor any attendees with breathing issues!
2. There are scattered showers forecasted for tomorrow, most numerous in very early morning before the show and after 4:00 p.m.
We are so sorry for any confusion and are thankful that the air quality was brought to our attention by our caring followers. We were so focused on the upcoming precipitation that we just failed to properly analyze the effects of air quality on a working horses lungs (and ours too!)
AN UPDATE FOR HIGH POINT PARTICIPANTS- we regret to announce we are suspending the high point run for this year. It’s been an unusual summer and with the canceled May show, then coordinating with Big K**b Show Series for makeup points, and now this, it’s not really fair to expect so many to be able to change all those plans at the last minute so frequently!
Next show season, we intend to be BACK ON TRACK!

INTRODUCING! INTRODUCING!
A DRESSAGE SHOW is coming to Hookstown Fairgrounds thanks to the invite from BVAECA who will have a tractor pull at the grounds that day!
This is a preliminary show schedule with tests offered! More information coming SOON! Stalls will be available as well and food will be on the grounds. This intends to be an introductory show to give amateurs the opportunity to try the dressage discipline! Please spread the word AND invite others to attend on Saturday, October 3, 2026!
