Ask any kid that we teach in the BVTA and the fist thing we teach after a match is to shake hands the same whether you win or loseā¦this was in last night Australian Open.
Osaka believes she upset Cirstea by verbally hyping herself up during the match š³ READ MORE:Subscribe to SN's YouTube Channel: http://bit.ly/2FXLX7MLike on Facebook: http://bit.ly/2FUDMJrFollow on Twitter: https...

Help kids get an appreciation of the sport that they are playing! The Australian Open, 1 of the 4 majors, is on for the next two weeks. Let them learn about professional players, athleticism, and so much more to develop a passion for their sport. I ask kids ages 5-18ā¦and most say they never watched a full professional match. Now is a great time for them to learn.

The deal in clinics is they only earn it if they serve a ball into the hopper and it stays in the hopper. I had to defer to Barry Borza on the next courtā¦and he ruled against me! Good job Alyssa!

Always fun to see kids just being kids at tennis. They love playing āmirrorsā in between working on their tennis skills.

Holiday Tournament š¾š¾š¾ 3 hours tonight at Brady's Run Ice Arena - Beaver County Recreation Dept. Tons of matches played with a final between Gia, who took second place š and Veronica, who won first š. Iāve watched both of these girls grow up on the courts along with many of the others. Great competition all night from all the players. One of the things I enjoy most is their friendships amongst each other while attending 5 different local schools. Special thanks to Coach Lily for coordinating everything for these girls to play tonight. She puts in a lot of time and energy.

Below is a link to the USTA. I encourage you to sign your kids up for a membership as it is free for juniors. There are many opportunities beyond playing tennis at the BVTA, and even high school. There is a wealth of information that the USTA provides along with local tournaments and educational opportunities. The USTA has been instrumental in my career as a coach. Not only have they provided me with educational opportunities, they helped facilitate trips to the Cincinatti Open and the US Open, both of which I volunteered at. Let's help create a passion for all of our students.

We would like to wish all of our high school kids a great week at tryouts. Throughout the summer, myself, Coach Lily, and Coach Drew have enjoyed lessons, clinics and match play for many of the kids spanning over multiple districts in Beaver and Allegheny counties. Some of these kids started at an early age at the BVTA and are now competing at the varsity and junior varsity level. Give it your best in all of your matches and above allā¦have fun!

Information for fall clinics:
We will be offering fall clinics on Saturday mornings starting Saturday, August 16 at Bradys Run outdoors. Indoor courts are not available on Saturdays until after Labor Day, but we may move indoors at that time. Coach Lily will be the primary instructor for these clinics and either myself or another instructor will be there as needed. The current schedule for Bradys Run outdoors is listed below and added to the app each week:
9 a.m. Orange Ball
10 a.m. Green Ball
11 a.m. Yellow Ball
We are not currently offering a red ball class on Saturdays. If there are enough kids, we may offer one during an evening. Additional clinics may be offered by Coach Drew and myself during the week, but we must balance court availability with high school and college matches, and they often have priority of courts.
Enrollment:
We continue to offer pay-as-you-go as many kids are in several activities and have other schedule conflicts. We have a lot of kids in the program and will be capping the enrollment each week. It is recommended to keep notifications turned on in the app and to sign up as early as possible each week if you plan on attending. Once a class is full, the app will automatically put you into a wait list. If anyone cancels, the first available on the wait list will open a spot. Otherwise, please do not send your kid to a clinic if they are on the wait list as we may not have enough court space. We have had recent no-shows for clinics throughout the summerā¦keep in mind there may be others waiting for that spot. Please be mindful of attendance once they are signed up, as we pay for court rentals and instructors.
List of Instructors:
Duane Hardek ā Owner, PTR Certified
Lily Pruszenski, PTR Certified
Drew Rodenbeck, PTR Certified
Anna Mrkonja, Assistant Instructor
Lily Ceriani, Assistant Instructor
Payments:
We continue to offer Venmo or cash payments. If anyone needs the BVTA Venmo link, let me know and I will text it to you. We ask that you pay the day of the clinic as we pay instructors accordingly.
Looking Ahead:
All of us at the BVTA enjoy working with your kids. We are fortunate to have kids across many school districts participating each week. We focus on technical skills as well as fitness, mental skills and improving their confidence. We plan to offer more match play opportunities for those looking for competitive play. I will also be sharing information about USTA and UTR events. Thank you for allowing all of us to teach your kids a terrific sport!
