That's a lot of drugs off of the street last year in Bend thanks to K9 Bonnie!

This week, we are highlighting some of the interesting numbers from our busy 2024. Today, check out K9 Bonnie, a drug detection dog, who deployed 54 times in 2024. Her nose sniffed out 42.78 pounds of m**h, 36.71 pounds of fentanyl powder and 2,460 fentanyl pills, and 4.96 pounds of he**in. She also found co***ne and psilocybin mushrooms. Just another day at the office for DINT!

On Friday, January 10th, 2025, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) brought to conclusion an ongoing co***ne trafficking investigation. At approximately 4:00 PM detectives, with help from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2800 block of Coos Bay Wagon Road in Lookingglass.

Multiple persons were detained during ex*****on of the search warrant. During a search of the residence detectives found substantial amounts of evidence to include: Approximately 2.3 kilos (5.2 pounds) of suspected co***ne, almost one pound of psilocybin mushrooms, scales and packaging materials used to weigh and package substances, several fi****ms, bulk cash, and other evidence.

43 year old Ronnie Romo of Lookingglass was arrested and lodged at the Douglas County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession, Delivery, and Manufacture of Co***ne, as well as Unlawful Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance (Psilocybin).

Co***ne seizures are up significantly throughout the pacific northwest in recent months, and Douglas County is not immune from the trend. This is one of the largest co***ne seizures in memory for this area.

The Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) is a multi-jurisdictional narcotics task force that identifies, disrupts, and dismantles local, multi-state, and international drug trafficking organizations using an intelligence-driven, multi-agency prosecutor-supported approach. DINT is supported by the Oregon-Idaho High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) and is composed of members from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Roseburg Police Department, Oregon State Police, Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, and the Bureau of Land Management.

The Oregon-Idaho HIDTA program is an Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) sponsored counterdrug grant program that coordinates with and provides funding resources to multi-agency drug enforcement initiatives, including DINT.

Great job K9 Poe! 🐾 🚓

Early this morning, Deputy Francis conducted a traffic stop on S Empire BLVD near Pacific AVE. Deputy Francis suspected drug activity based on the interaction of the stop. The vehicle was towed from the scene as the driver was suspended and vehicle was blocking the road. K9 Poe later deployed on the vehicle and had a positive alert, indicating presence of the odor of narcotics. Deputy Francis applied for and received a search warrant for the vehicle. After the search was executed, deputies located:
Glass M**h Pipes
Handheld Taser
(2) Digital Scales
3/4 lb (12 oz) M**hamphetamine

The investigation is on going and and additional information will be released via Coos County Sheriff’s Office Page. Excellent work Deputy Francis! 💛K9 Poe was happy to help!
