If you are a baseball/softball parent

CONSIDER HIS ADVICE.

Your kidS probably don’t need more hitting lessons…

But they could greatly benefit from a strength coach.

Get stronger. Move better. Build muscle. Stay capable.

“FUNCTIONAL TRAINING” HAS BECOME A NONSENSE TERM….usually accompanied by silly exercises that yield no results.

I hear it all the time:

“I don’t want to lift weights. I want to do functional training.”

Okay… functional for WHAT?

That’s the part everyone leaves out.

Training is “functional” if it improves your ability to do the things you need or want to do.

Guess what…. Nothing is more “functional” that a barbell squat!

If you’re a runner, stronger legs are functional.

If you’re 70 years old, getting stronger so you can get off the floor, carry groceries and climb stairs is functional.

If you’re a parent, being strong enough to pick up your kid without hurting your back is functional.

Even building muscle is functional. Muscle helps you produce force, protects your joints, supports your metabolism and gives you more physical capacity as you age.

Somewhere along the way, though, “functional training” started meaning:

Stand on something unstable while holding a kettlebell, balancing on one leg, twisting, pressing and trying not to fall over. 😂

That isn’t automatically more “functional” than a squat, deadlift, row, press, carry or pull-up.

Sometimes it’s just making a simple exercise unnecessarily complicated.

There’s no special category called “functional” exercise.

There are exercises.
Some are better than others.

After 40, building and maintaining muscle is one of the best things you can do for your quality of life. More strength. Better movement. Stronger joints. More independence. And the ability to keep doing the things you love.

You don’t need boot camps.
You don’t need hours of cardio.
You don’t need some ridiculous “30-day transformation.”

You need smart programming, progressive strength training, consistency, and a coach who knows what they’re doing.

If you’re over 40 and ready to get stronger, send me a message. Let’s get to work. 💪🏻

How many Mondays have you promised yourself, “This time I’m sticking with it?”

The truth is, most people don’t fail because they lack motivation. They fail because they never have a plan that’s realistic enough to stick with.

At Community Barbell, we don’t believe in quick fixes, crash diets, or 30-day challenges. We believe in building strength, creating healthy habits, and helping you become the strongest version of yourself—one workout at a time.

Whether you’re brand new to the gym or getting back after years away, you’ll have a coach who knows your name, a program built for your goals, and a community that’s genuinely rooting for your success.

A year from now, you’ll either be glad you started…or wishing you had.

If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect time,” this is it.

Send us a message today and let’s get started before Monday 💪🏻

There Is Peace in Privacy

Most of life’s biggest moves are made in the dark.

I genuinely don’t understand the constant need to post your entire life on social media.

Why does everyone need to know everything you’re doing?
Everything you ate.
Everywhere you went.
Every thought that entered your head.

Some moments should stay private.

I don’t need to see videos of your relatives or pets passing away while you cry and pose for the camera.

I’m sure everyone is impressed that you got wasted Friday night and somehow made it home. But hey, at least it’s Facebook official.

So what is it?

Narcissism?
Loneliness?
Mental health struggles?
Or has your “business” convinced you that you’re no longer a person—you’re a product that must constantly be marketed and sold?

Maybe it’s a little of all of the above.

Either way, imagine how much more you could accomplish if you spent less time chasing likes, follows, and validation from strangers.

Rant over. 😂

Now go do something productive.

Lift heavy weights.
Take your creatine.
Squat below parallel.
Eat your protein.

The people who matter will notice the results.

If weight loss is the goal, soda and alcohol need to go first.

Cut the soda.
Cut the alcohol.

If you're not disciplined enough to remove those, your chances of succeeding are low.
And if you can't do that, don't be surprised when fat loss fails.
