Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid......Pistolero Gravel Race in Bolivia.....O.k, this is one of the coolest gravel races I have seen in a while. It is so cool that I reached out to the owner, and what an awesome guy! Seriously, check this out. Bolivia. Incredible landscape. Link in comments. With maybe a secret discount code?

Peaks Coaching Group Coach, Todd Scheske found the "kitchen sink" when out riding. A family packed a trailer full of gear for their camping trip, including the "kitchen sink". Have you done one of Hunter's epic "Kitchen Sink" workouts? Try this one this weekend.

Break the ride into 4 sections of equal time (ex: if ride is 4 hours, 1 hour sections) and in each section complete the following efforts.
------
WU: 15 Minutes (Power Z2, HR Z2, RPE 2-3) with 3 x 1 minute fast pedals to open up the legs.
------
SECTION 1: Neuromuscular Power – During the first section of the ride complete 6 x 20 seconds all out sprints. Target short hills or fast zones that allow you to begin sprints from 18-22mph. Sprints area all out and hard as you can go. Try to allow for at least 5 minutes of riding at endurance pace in-between sprints.

SECTION 2: VO2Max – during this section complete an interval set of 4 x 4 min VO2Max effort (Power Z5, HR Z5, RPE 6-7) with 4 minutes rest in-between intervals. Try to do these in the middle of the section and on a long flat road with no interruptions.

SECTION 3 – Threshold – During this section we will complete a 4 x 10 min effort at SST (Sweet Spot) (Power Z3.5, Heart Rate Z3.5, RPE 4) with a 5 – 10 minute rest in-between intervals.

SECTION 4 – ANAEROBIC CAPACITY – Complete 5 x 1 Minute all out efforts (Power Z6, HR Z6, RPE >7) with 4 minutes rest in-between.

Ride all other time in your ENDurance zone (Power Z2, HR Z2, RPE 2-3). This ride will really tax all systems and should send you home pretty tired so focus on recovery the moment you get off the bike.

CD: 15 minutes to Crawl home

Almost a year ago Liz Kimundi came to PCG and said I have this goal for next summer. It was a goal indeed! She had signed up with a group of friends to do an 'Epic Alps' ride. 13 consecutive days of riding many major TDF climbs. Woof! This was going to be an incredible challenge for me as a coach and for her as a rider. Liz dived right in and trained as hard as I have ever seen one. Many 100 mile rides. Grueling gym work(she has a strength coach as well, the awesome James Nicholson). Hill repeats over and over. We worked to design for her specialized stage race type weeks where she got used to fatigue stacks of back to back to back days riding, as I knew a key to her accomplishing this goal was being able to survive each day of riding with an eye on what was next. This meant really working and dialing in a complete package of fueling and recovery, cadence, ZCAD, the whole package. We worked on it over and over in every ride she did so it became baked in.
The next to last day a pedestrian walked out in front of her, knocking her to the pavement. She got back up an despite a badly bruised backside, on Friday Liz completed her Epic Alps.
In 13 days she rode about 1,000 miles, 55 hours and 65,000 feet of elevation gain, up and down one mountain after another in all types of weather conditions.
I run out of superlatives when describing what an accomplishment this was and her incredible dedication and work ethic.
Congratulations and chapeau do not do this effort justice.
I am incredibly proud of her.
Fabulous Liz, just fabulous..:)
