Our next guided hike is on the Owl Prowl trail, and we wanted to give you some updates.

We will now meet at Buckeye Recreation Center rather than the parking lot across the street from the visitor center.

For those who haven't hiked owl prowl before, it is one of our newer trails (completed right before Hurricane Helene).

It is a connector trail that leads into the Grassy Gap trail / creek system. This trail has elevation, a boardwalk, and beautiful scenery to offer.

Please send a congrats to Matt!

Matt has completed his Environmental Educators course through the NC Department of Environmental Quality and the office of Environmental Education / Public Affairs. This 200-hour course has sent him all over the state - learning more about environmental literacy, public education, and fostering leadership. You've probably seen this in practice with the VTG program, the Nature Rallies, and building stronger relationships with professional organizations.

Look forward to seeing more environmental education programs in the future!

๐ŸŽ‰New NC Certified Environmental Educator! Congratulations to Matt Robinson, program coordinator and camp director for Beech Mountain Parks and Recreation. Matt says his favorite part of earning certification was the networking and friends he met in the program. โ€œAs a small parks and recreation division, being able to work with other larger organizations such as North Carolina State Parks and Recreation and the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation has been rewarding."

When asked what certification experience stood out for Matt, he says it was North Carolina Project Learning Tree. โ€œI had the pleasure of co-hosting a Project Learning Tree course with new friends at the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation. It stands out to me because I enjoyed working as a team to complete a common goal.โ€ Read more about Matt and his N.C. Yesterday was our last Stretch & Dine Social of the season, and what a wonderful way to wrap things up! Between the delicious food, great conversations, and friendliness of the group, Buckeye was the place to be.

Iโ€™m so grateful for the incredible sense of community that has grown at Buckeye over the past year. Itโ€™s been wonderful to see friendships form, new faces join us, and our community continue to come together.

Weโ€™re looking forward to growing, connecting, and sharing many more memories together!

Thank You for a Wonderful Tea Exchange!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Tea Exchange! We had such a wonderful afternoon filled with good tea, great conversation, and plenty of delicious snacks.

So many different teas were shared, giving everyone a chance to try something new and discover a new favorite. We also want to give a special thank you to our Sourdough Club members and everyone else who brought snacks to share. The homemade treats were the perfect addition to the afternoon!

And, of course, a huge thank you to Suzanne for organizing it all! Suzanne is simply the best, and weโ€™re so grateful for the time and thought she puts into creating these fun opportunities for our community to gather.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the Tea Exchange such a fun and welcoming event. We canโ€™t wait for the next one! ๐Ÿต
