Today , we celebrate a man whose impact on baseball reaches far beyond wins and losses. We honor a coach, a mentor, a volunteer, and above all, a servant to his community. It is with tremendous pride that we here at Central Maine Baseball congratulate Ben Dostie on his induction into the Maine Cal Ripken Hall of Fame.
For Ben, baseball has never simply been a game. It has been a vehicle to teach respect, responsibility, teamwork, and character. For countless young athletes, stepping onto the field meant learning much more than how to throw a curveball or turn a double play—it meant learning how to become better people.
Ben’s love for baseball has always been matched by his unwavering love for his community. Year after year, season after season, he has invested thousands of hours into the young people of Fairfield PAL and the Maine Cal Ripken community, never asking for recognition and never expecting anything in return. His reward has always been seeing children grow into confident young adults and watching former players return to give back to the next generation.
His dedication extends far beyond one diamond. Through Lawrence Baseball, he has helped shape one of Maine’s proudest baseball traditions. Through Lawrence Football, he has volunteered his time to support student-athletes, teaching the same values of discipline, accountability, and perseverance. Through PAL Baseball, he has opened doors for countless children to experience the joy of the game, creating opportunities that will last a lifetime.
Those who know Ben understand that his greatest strength isn’t measured in championships or trophies. It is measured in relationships. It is found in the extra batting practice after everyone else has gone home, the encouraging words after a tough loss, the countless hours preparing fields, organizing teams, finding volunteers, and making sure every child had the chance to play.
The true legacy of a Hall of Famer isn’t built in a single season—it is built over decades of quiet service. Ben has become the kind of leader every community hopes for: dependable, humble, passionate, and selfless. He has inspired fellow coaches, earned the respect of parents, and forever influenced generations of young athletes who proudly call him “Coach.”
We here at Central Maine Baseball know that Maine Cal Ripken Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who embody the very best of youth baseball. Ben Dostie represents those ideals in every sense of the word. His commitment to teaching the game the right way, his dedication to sportsmanship, and his unwavering belief that every child deserves an opportunity to succeed have left an indelible mark on baseball in Central Maine.
This honor is about much more than baseball. It is a celebration of a lifetime spent giving back, strengthening a community, and making a lasting difference in the lives of others.
Congratulations, Ben. Your passion, your generosity, and your extraordinary commitment to Lawrence Baseball, Lawrence Football, PAL Baseball, and the youth of Maine have earned you a place among the very best. Your legacy will not simply be remembered in the Hall of Fame—it will live on in every player, every coach, and every family whose lives you have touched.
There is no one more deserving of this honor.
We here at Central Maine Baseball stand in your honor and you represent the very best that local sports has to offer.
