Fall Festival Parade

Belgrade Wrestling Club will be entering a float in the Belgrade Fall Festival Parade on Saturday, September 19th, and we’d love to have as many of our wrestlers and families involved as possible to help promote the club and recruit new wrestlers for the upcoming season!

We’ll be getting together Thursday, September 17th at 6:45 PM to decorate the float, make signs, figure out any last-minute details for our ’80s Punk theme, and get everything ready for Saturday.

We’ll also be firing up the grill with hamburgers and hot dogs, so come hungry! We want to make it a fun evening for our wrestlers and families to hang out, eat some food, and get in some good team bonding while we prepare for the parade.

Look for the red shop on the property—that’s where we’ll be meeting.

Everyone in the club is welcome! Come hang out, lend a hand, and let’s show the community what Belgrade Wrestling Club is all about!

Belgrade Wrestling Club Schedule Update

Our current practice schedule is:

Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
6:45–8:00 PM

Right now, our primary focus is building strength. We'll be spending a lot of time in the weight room, with wrestling technique and live wrestling mixed in at the end of practice to learn how to wrestle when our muscles are fatigued.

Please make sure to bring both training shoes and wrestling shoes to every practice. We'll be using both throughout the evening.

Beginning in October, we'll start adding more conditioning, plyometrics, and extended wrestling time as we prepare for the season, which begins the first Monday in November. After tonight's practice that gives us 45 practices before the season starts—45 opportunities to get stronger, improve our technique, and become better athletes.

Upcoming Camps

📍 August 1–3 – Glasgow Wrestling Camp
Open to Belgrade middle school and high school boys and girls. Our high school boys coach, along with the high school and middle school girls coaches, will all be taking athletes to this camp. It'll be a great opportunity for everyone to come together, learn new techniques, and continue building our team culture before the season begins.

If you're interested, please reach out as soon as possible so we can finalize our plans.

📍 August 7–8 – Magic City Wrestling Camp (Billings)
This is a great opportunity to learn from Paulo Salminen, a good friend of mine and a tremendous college wrestler. His aggressive style is something every wrestler can learn from. If you're interested in attending, let me know so I can get a headcount.

Congratulations to Charlee Lund, who went 3-2 at Fargo Nationals. This was her first season wrestling freestyle and she adapted like a true athlete. We're very proud of her performance and cannot wait to see what's next for her. She has one more year at 16U so next year there is a lot to look forward to. Great work Charlee!

Tonight was Jaxon's last practice with us. What an amazing kid! We're going to miss him a ton. He was one of the nicest, most respectful kids you'll ever meet, but an absolute monster on the mat. His collar tie to an underhook, or as we like to call it, "Hello, HOW ARE YOU?!", has rattled more than a few of our adult coaches. Best of luck to him in Alabama. Whatever coach sees him walk through their practice room doors is going to be thanking God Almighty 😂. It has truly been a privilege coaching him, and hopefully we'll see him back in Montana for the Montana Open next March. Good luck, Jaxon. Keep working hard. We will be cheering for you.

ATTENTION BELGRADE HIGH SCHOOL & MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS & PARENTS

We are planning to attend the Glasgow Girls Wrestling Camp on August 1–3, and we'd love to take a great group of Belgrade wrestlers!

This is an excellent opportunity for our girls to learn from high-level wrestlers and coaches while training alongside athletes from across the state. Camps like these are a great way to build skills, confidence, and friendships before the season begins.

Coach Derry and Coach Jones, along with a female parent chaperone, are planning to make this a team trip. Our current plan is to rent an Airbnb and a passenger van so the girls can travel, stay, and train together. We're also working with the Belgrade Wrestling Club Board to see if they can help offset some of the cost and make the trip more affordable for our families.

For now, we just need to know who's interested.

If your daughter is interested in attending, please reach out to Coach Derry or Coach Jones as soon as possible. The sooner we know how many girls are interested, the sooner we can finalize transportation, lodging, and registration before the early registration deadline.

This is a great opportunity to improve your wrestling, strengthen relationships with your teammates, and head into next season with more confidence and experience.

It's hard to believe it's been just over a year since we lost Henry. He was one of the smartest kids with a brilliant mind and so much potential. The kid fell in love with the sport of wrestling and set a goal of placing at state his freshman year, which would have been this year. And it was a goal that was genuinely within reach. I hope the kids who grew up with him remember him as who he was, very funny, smart, and outgoing. And I hope the memory of his passing is a lesson to them too. You'll always be missed, Henry. RIP.
