🎀 MEET THE STAFF 🎀
First up- Ms. Charice (Today is her birthday! 🎂
🩵Name:
Hi! My name is Ms. Charice, or as the littles like to call me, Reese. 💕
🩵Position at the Studio:
Coach & Choreographer
🩵How Long Have You Been Twirling?
Baton has been part of my life since I was eight years old, when I began twirling at my aunt’s studio, Razz-M-Tazz.
During my high school years, baton opened doors I never imagined. I had opportunities to work alongside my Aunt for Razz-M-Tazz studios and also a camp called FJM, a group that travels to different campuses, mentor other twirlers, instruct, and continue growing in a sport that had already become such a huge part of who I was.
Eventually, I put my baton down as I entered a new chapter of life and started having children. But baton apparently wasn’t finished with me yet. ❤️
When my daughter Chloe was just three years old, she began twirling at the very same studio where I had grown up. I was given the opportunity to help coach her class, and little by little, I found myself falling in love with coaching.
Sadly, after a long battle with cancer, my aunt passed away, and Razz-M-Tazz closed its doors one final time. It was the end of a place that held such a huge piece of my childhood and my heart.
But sometimes one chapter ending makes room for another.
Ms. Katey and I twirled together for many years, and we had always dreamed of continuing something like this together someday. Katey took that leap and opened Top of Ohio Twirling, and I enrolled my girls as soon as I could. Not long after, I decided it was time for me to take a leap of my own and step back into coaching.
For the last three years, I have had the privilege of being a coach and choreographer here, and I truly have the best time doing it.
🩵What Do You Love Most About Coaching?
Watching our girls accomplish something they once thought they couldn't do.
There is something so special about seeing a trick, teaching it to one of our athletes, and then watching her work until suddenly, she gets it. Seeing that excitement and confidence on her face never gets old.
But even more than watching them grow as twirlers, I love watching them grow as people.
🩵Favorite Thing to Teach:
Choreography is absolutely my favorite! Give me music, a baton, and a group of girls, and I could create routines all day. There is something so rewarding about starting with an idea and watching it come alive through our athletes.
🩵My Coaching Philosophy:
I end my nights at the studio with the same little wish for our girls
I hope they build a home here.
Of course, I want them to love baton. I want them to learn new tricks, perform, compete, and accomplish every goal they set for themselves.
But more than they love the sport, I hope they love the people they meet and the place they come to train.
I want this studio to feel safe. I want it to be the place they can walk into after a long day at school, take a deep breath, and just know that everything is going to be okay.
I want them to learn to love themselves here.
I want every girl who walks through our doors to be able to look in the mirror and know her worth. I want her to know her values, recognize everything she brings to this world, and pour every ounce of love into herself that she deserves.
I want them to learn that it is okay to put themselves first sometimes. It is okay to make mistakes. It is okay to have hard days. And it is always okay to try again.
Watching them grow at the studio, at competitions, and under the Friday night lights is beautiful. But the most beautiful part for me is watching each child slowly bloom into exactly who she is meant to be and realize just how capable she has always been.
🩵Favorite Studio Memory:
Some of my most treasured studio memories don't involve trophies, routines, or even batons.
They're our team-bonding moments.
They're the nights we sit together in a circle and simply talk and listen.
Because sometimes what our girls need most isn't another baton in their hands. Sometimes they just need someone to listen, somewhere to belong, and people who remind them that they matter.
Those are the moments I hold closest to my heart. ❤️
🩵Outside the Studio:
Outside of coaching, my biggest and most important role is being Mom. My husband, Josh, and I have been together since 2005, and we have four beautiful children: Colten, 15; Colbee, 13; Chloe, 11; and Clairadee, 7.
We are a very proud Benjamin Logan family, and when I'm not at the baton studio or running around with my own kids, you'll find me doing something else I absolutely love, teaching preschool at Theresa's Gingerbread House.
Apparently, whether I'm at work, home, or the studio, being surrounded by kids is exactly where I'm supposed to be. 💕
🩵What Do You Hope Your Students Take Away From Being Part of Our Baton Family?
Years from now, I know they may not remember every routine I choreographed. They may forget which competition they placed at, which trick gave them the hardest time, or how many trophies they brought home.
But I hope they remember how they felt here.
I hope they remember laughing with their teammates, sitting together in our circles, celebrating each other's victories, and being there through the hard days.
I hope they leave knowing they were loved, valued, and capable.
Most of all, I hope that when they're grown and look back on their years at Top of Ohio, they don't just remember a studio where they learned to twirl a baton.
I hope they remember a place that felt like home. 🎀❤️
