Sadly, we must announce that the Metro East Masters League will not have a 2024-2025 season.
In recent weeks, we thought that an eight-team, four person team format might fill, but the league ended up a few bowlers short of the bare minimum and several short of a proper draft list for even that much reduced league format. The number of bowlers not returning from last season was just too much to overcome.
Metro East Masters Bowling League
The Metro East Masters League is a scratch bowling league that also raises money for various charities.
One week left to enter the draft! Draft scheduled for July 21.
The captains for next season are as follows:
John Bogacki
Tony Bush
John Flanagan
Anthony Ostendorf
Jeff Patterson
Luke Pearl
Johnny Reinheimer
Brandon Rice
Jason Timmermann
Jayce Timmermann
Each captain is entitled to one protected pick. Bogacki, Ostendorf, and Reinheimer have submitted their picks. Feel free to reach out to the other captains if you're interested in bowling with them.
The league will continue with its current format (four bowlers, all four bowlers bowl three games) if total interested bowlers (captains + protected picks + draft players) is at least forty by Sunday, July 14 at 7pm. Protected picks are also due at that time.
The draft will be on Sunday, July 21.
The draft list is officially open. To enter, we'll need your name, phone number, and USBC ID number.
There is less than one week to submit your name as a captain for next season. Those interested in being a captain must do so by this coming Sunday, June 9, at 7pm.
The Masters League approved the following changes for next season:
Practice 7:00 bowl at 7:10 - this was implemented to allow some bowlers who drive from far away to have more time.
Captains may protect one bowler as their "protected pick." These should be submitted by Sunday, July 14th.
We're currently short one captain. We'll take nominations until 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 9th. If we're still short, we'll move down to ten teams. If we end up with more than 12, we'll follow our league rules to determine the 12 captains.
Regardless of the number of teams, if the draft has sufficient entries to fill the league by 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 14th we'll use the same format as we have the past several years (four bowlers per team, all bowl all three games). If not, we'll move down to trios. Either way, the draft will be Sunday, July 21st at 7:00 pm.

If you're considering bowling the league next year, if you have ideas on what you would like to see from the league in the future, or maybe thought "if the league did this I would probably bowl," you're also welcome to join.
