Childhood trauma, but make it a fitness goal.
I think this one has been 20 years in the making.

In this job, clients usually fall into one of two categories: the ones you pour into, and the ones who somehow pour right back into you. Both are meaningful, but every once in a while you get client’s that leave you more energized, more grateful, and happier than when they walked in the door.
Emily and Elee are that for me. Two gals that I paired up and quickly became friends, and whose sessions together became one of the brightest parts of my week.
Emily is off to a new state and new adventures and while we’re so happy for her, the gym truly won’t be the same without our little yapper 🤍
Your core training needs progression, too.
I know I s**t on things like bird-dogs and deadbugs a lot. The more nuanced version of this is that they have their place. When I train beginners, or women who are newly postpartum I use these lower level drills too.
The problem I have with these movements is when someone has been training for 6+ months and their training hasn’t progressed beyond that.
To me, they are a drill, not training. They should be use to solve biomechanical issues with the goal being to get to true training that drives adaptation as quickly as possible.
When I think about my own core training, I am trying to find movements that I can actually take to failure. Ideally in less than 10 reps. Today that was:
• Dragon flags (realistically only 1-2 reps but single leg I can get like 6)
• Side Plank Hips Dips (need some load here to make them hard enough)
• Hanging leg or knee raises (pretty cooked after 6-8)
• Ab wheel rollouts (probably need to progress those soon).
Just a reminder that core training isn’t special and progressive overload applies here too.
“Just be better” 😉
The Friday crew doesn’t mess around.

Girls, we are killing it.
In education, in the boardroom and at home. The gym is the final frontier. The one place where I don’t think we have collectively exceeded men quite yet. There is always going to be a biological disparity when it comes to things like maximal strength, power and speed...but we need to train intelligently. Ditch the b***y bands. Don’t let the boys think we’re dumb.
*Thank you to all of the guys who have taught me everything I know. I’m the trainer and athlete I am because of a lot of male coaches and mentorship 🫶🏼
