Note that today's playoff matches are best 2 out of 3. The final team point doesn't matter - the first team to win 2 matches wins the night.
Bellevue Thursday Masters 140
This page communicates information about the APA Masters division 140, playing on Thursdays out of O
Ok, playoffs are set! Those two matches will be next Thursday, regular time.
Challengers won 1st place, and automatically get a ticket to WPQ.
For playoffs:
- Clever Cues won the wildcard, and will play the 2nd place team, Asian Sugar.
- The 3rd place team, That's What HE Said! will play the 4th place team*, STAR DESTROYERS.
* Note that Three Ballers and a Skirt and Arrowheads already qualified for WPQ, and were not eligible for playoffs this session.
And note that mathematically, the teams that will be included in the wildcard drawing are already determined, and don't depend on Thursday's results:
- Team X
- Altera Causa
- HAWY
- The Rail Riders
- Clever Cues
One of those 5 teams will be the wildcard and will play the 2nd place team on 12/20.
(sent to captains in email, but important part posted here to catch a wider audience)
This session begins a slightly new way of doing playoffs... any team that is already qualified for WPQ will be ineligible for playoffs in subsequent sessions that feed into the same WPQ. In other words, for the purposes of playoffs, the already-qualified teams will be removed from the stack rank. For this session, Three Ballers and a Skirt and Arrowheads have already qualified for WPQ and will therefore not be part of playoffs. With those teams removed from the rankings, we follow the same format as usual to fill our division's 3 WPQ spots:
• 1st gets an automatic WPQ entry
• 2nd plays the wildcard - winner goes to WPQ
• 3rd plays 4th - winner goes to WPQ
FYI, if a previously qualified team gets 1st place, they still receive trophies, and additionally get entered into the Cash Cup event next summer. Mathematically, that can't happen this session, so just file that info away for next session.
Does anyone have a spot available on their team? Rosters look full, but maybe someone needs to drop out. If so, Tim Flaherty is looking to play. Let me know if you are interested.
