Can we get a shout out for Bellingham's K9 teams?

Please join us in congratulating Officer Horton and his partner K9 Raven. The K9 team just completed a four month, 480 hour Explosive Detection K9 handler's course. The two recently passed the Criminal Justice Training Commission's certification testing and are now an accredited Explosive Detection Team.

Officer Horton and K9 Raven will assist our community, our agency and neighboring agencies in situations involving bomb threats, incidents involving explosives, pre-screening duties at events and locations, post blast investigations as well as evidence recovery involving fi****ms or explosives.

The team is excited to hit the streets and protect our community.

The rest of our K9 teams have also been staying busy.

K9 Rudy assisted WCSO in locating a wanted subject that fled on foot from them in Lynden.

K9 Prowl assisted in apprehending a suspect that fled from patrol officers in a vehicle then on foot. The suspect was located hiding in a boat.

K9 Destro assisted patrol by apprehending two suspects that led officers on two pursuits in a stolen vehicle before abandoning the vehicle and then fleeing on foot. Destro also recovered a number of stolen credit cards that the suspects discarded while fleeing.

Arne Hanna Aquatic Center is closed due to a maintenance issue. Lessons for today and tomorrow are definitely cancelled.The closure may span several days. We will post updates as we get more information.
