Happy Bike To Work and School Day!

After three weeks of perfect weather, today is, of course, very wet. A big kudos to all those who rode in today! Here is a condensed viewing of my commute. The marketing department wouldn't let me use the GoPro camera because they thought I'd break it (thanks a lot, Nate) so I had to phone it in.

I call this The Long Way In. It's about 11 miles from Sunnyland neighborhood through Whatcom Falls Park and up and over Galbraith. It usually takes just under an hour. So many fun options to commute by bike in Bellingham!

The Salsa Fargo. The one that started it all.

These two amazing rides are heading home! The titanium Fargo was built with a quick, capable and classy kit designed for doing everything very, very well. Shimano GRX 12 speed drivetrain with a mountain bike crank. Gears for going everywhere, tires for doing everything. In style and comfort.

The luscious green steel Fargo took a different route: Jones riser handlebar, 29x2.8" tires, and a will to explore.

So much fun to be had.

Bellingham Trail Update: Asphalt finally coming to Galbraith!

The local mountain bike community is celebrating with news that Shimano and Transition Bikes have chosen Omni-Pave as the asphalt and paving company to finish the new expert level freeride trail on Galbraith's North Side.

"Omni Pave came through with the best proposal in the end. We were really impressed with their work in Bentonville, and of course Springfield some years ago," said Lyle from Transition Bikes. With mountain bike sales in a slump over the last few years many brands have had to chart a different course to stay afloat. "We really think this will open up opportunities for Rollerbladers and scooter riders on Galbraith. And with our new Avinox equipped Razor scooter coming out this month, the timing is perfect!" Shimano issued a brief statement declaring 'Gravel is the new Mountain, and Road is the new Gravel. Pave it all.' Local bike stores are also excited about the new paved trail. "Our race team is not just bike riders," commented Niles from Fanatik Bike Shop in Bellingham. "Our elite rollerblade team has been asking for a more aggressive course to train on for years. And we challenge the teams at Fairhaven Bicycles and any other shop to a competition on the trail!" Matt from Fairhaven quickly responded that he's been "preparing for this since 1989. My 'blades are freshly tuned." The Trek Store Bellingham referred all questions to Corporate.

It seems everyone is generally excited for the new paved expert option but there is some confusion among users. When asked his opinion about the paving plan, executive director Eric Brown responded in an uncharacteristic moment of brevity: "wait, what?!"
