The Secret to Actually Achieving Your Big Dreams
Setting long-term goals is important, but here’s the truth most people miss:
Don’t obsess over your 5-year or 10-year vision.
Your mid-range goals deserve more attention.
But the real focus?
Your short-range, day-to-day tasks.
Think of it like this:
Long-term goal: Hike 100 miles this month.
Mid-range goal: Complete a 10-mile hike twice a week, last week 3 times .
That 10-mile hike might take about 3–4 hours (depending on terrain and your pace).
Here’s where the magic happens, break that mid-range goal into short-range daily actions:
Instead of staring at “10 miles” and feeling overwhelmed, focus on conquering six 30-minute hiking chunks.
• Chunk 1: First 30 minutes — just get out the door and start moving.
• Chunk 2: Next 30 minutes — stay consistent with your pace.
• And so on…
Each small win builds momentum. Knock out one focused 30-minute chunk at a time, and suddenly that 10-mile hike feels doable.
Hit enough of those 10-mile mid-range goals… and the 100-mile long-term dream takes care of itself.
The formula is simple:
1. Dream big (Long-term)
2. Plan in stages (Mid-range)
3. Execute daily (Short-range)
Success isn’t about motivation or willpower alone.
It’s about consistently crushing the next small goal in front of you.
Today, pick one short-range task that moves you toward your next mid-range goal.
Do it.
Celebrate it.
Repeat.
Your future self will thank you when you look back at that 100-mile journey , and realize it was built one 30-minute chunk at a time.
What’s one small daily goal you’re committing to today?
