It’s finally out into the world!
Empowerment is a bike pump. I began writing this personal essay almost two years ago. First as a way of healing post-break up. But second, over time, I felt like a different kind of writing and art was missing from the mountain biking community.
No, it isn’t about bike reviews. No, it isn’t about pro riders. No, trying to sell you something isn’t at the core. But don’t we have enough of that? I think there is value in a softer female perspective, one that uses mountain biking as a tool for connection, self expression, and art… but isn’t necessarily at the core of the topic.
Even if audiences are quiet, I’m going to keep pushing my agenda. Because I believe that the world needs more of this… even if the world doesn’t know it yet.

Now booking for the 2026 summer and autumn seasons. ✨
We are in service to love.
Together with Becky Koplowitz, we meet with you to celebrate love at all stages of your life. 🌸
Maybe you want to heal heartache and walk your way back to self love and a feeling of self worth. We will walk your way with you, and turn your body into beautiful art.
Maybe this is simply about celebrating everything you already love about yourself, and capturing that in nature, so you can hang yourself on your wall.
Maybe you want to call in the love of your dreams by celebrating where you’re at, and the work you’ve done to arrive here.
Maybe this is about ritual. Maybe it’s about art. Maybe it’s about healing.
Whatever it is, it comes back to love. Love is the root, and we are ready to nourish those seeds with you. 🌸
Sophrosyne Studios is launching, and we are filling the calendar with self-love empowerment shoots, adventure elopements, small weddings, engagements, maternity, and bff sisterhood sessions.
Turning your love into art, from Bellingham and beyond… through the Pacific Northwest.
Thank you to all the vulnerably courageous women who have gotten naked in the nature with me. 🌸 And for those yet to come, I’m excited to meet you. 🌷

What do you do when you are in the middle of the Stora Alvaret on Öland, without any shelter, and there are rain clouds coming and going?
You keep going, of course. And accidentally take yourself on a 40km bike ride on a vintage bike.
Do hard things. Don't die.
Mission complete.

In my latest piece, I share some behind the scenes to how my return to Sweden has reignited my curiosity and determination to succeed at my dreams — two things that became stunted over the last few years.
Part of that has been the empowered step to take my health back into my hands and find holistic solutions. This has brought me to seed cycling, in an attempt to solve the full-luteal-phase bloating that has seemingly come out of nowhere.
So, today: sesame seeds and sunflower seeds added to my chia pudding concoction. Paired with a gluten-free seedy bread with homemade tomato jam.
Coffee, too, of course. Because if you know Sweden, you know that coffee hour is every hour.

After almost four years away, I have returned to the country where I tried to build a life for several years.
Within hours of landing, I felt the uncomfortable truth wrap around me that this life has expired; it is a time and place that was needed for a specific period of my life, and that period is in the past.
In other words, it’s like I’m trying to find the heartbeat in a cord that has been cut, and the vein has run dry.

This is why I train 👉🏻
No, it isn’t to become the top of the leaderboard during the Open.
But to say yes to a physical challenge at a moment’s notice, being ready despite not strategising my training specifically for that challenge — whether that challenge is climbing a mountain, participating in a 12-hour event, or signing up for some kind of competition.
And the readiness? The kind that extends beyond the physicality of it, to the emotional and mental arenas.
I suppose that some might simply declare that to be “training for life.”
Despite CrossFitting since 2009, I have never actually completed a full season. It’s been fun to see where I stand across the leaderboards, and get a little perspective on where my fitness level is at.
I’ve only been back training consistently at for the last two months, and I’m excited to see the progress I make for next year.
And by progress, I mean getting my first muscle-up! Because no, I did not get my muscle-ups in the midst of 26.2, but Becky sure made it look like I did. 😎

Tonight's ruck club launch coincides with the launch of the Substack! Because I just don't know how else to put all the information about events and everything else into one place that everyone has access to, regardless of whether or not they have an account (I'm looking at you, all things Meta...).
I've just launched the Bellingham Ruck Club Substack, where I'll be sharing local events PLUS virtual ruck challenges each week. Whether you're in Bellingham and able to join, or somewhere else and want some remote training buddies, we'd love to have you there!
p.s. It's free! 😊
Welcome everyone, to Bellingham's Ruck Club! Not sure if the only or the first, but most definitely the best.
After three years, I've finally started this, and I'm excited to build this community!
Because not everyone is on facebook or instagram, I've started a substack for the Ruck Club. Whether or not this is sustainable long-term, I don't know, but it seemed the like simplest way to compile information in one place, with weekly newsletters -- without building an entire website from scratch.
My intention is to use that as a hub, with a weekly announcement that includes the weekly meet-up in Bellingham, plus a remote ruck challenge (to do while you're traveling, or if you don't live in Bellingham). Ideally, I'd love if that's where your community engagement lives, but we will see how it goes the next few months.
If you don't want to make an account, then you can sign up for the newsletter without doing so. And if you DO make an account, you can join the comments and chats to share progress, goals, and inspiration.
Otherwise, facebook and instagram will be available, but my own focus will be primarily on substack because I only have so much time to devote to things.
See comments for the Substack info, and see you there!

Thanks to the very persistent and loving peer pressure from a dear friend (thanks, Becky!), I finally started a ruck club in Bellingham! It only took three years. 😆
If you are local to Whatcom County, come join the fun at Beast Goddess Ruck Club (Bellingham). No, you don't have to be a woman to participate, although we may have separate chapters as we grow.
Plans are to meet once a week, and eventually have some events. We're currently brainstorming the calendar, which will include a testing day for PST standards... because I like measuring progress!

I don't want to love you like the sun and the moon
though that does sound poetic
poetic, yes, but tragically so
no — I don't want us to spend our lives
chasing each other across the sky
what kind of love would that be,
to gaze upon each other in adoration
but never meet?
I think I'd like to love you like that (poem)
love is joy and sorrow, rupture and repair

..."And winter’s candle? Snow.
Maybe I didn’t realize how much I need a snowy winter, and this has been one of the lessons for me to learn about myself in this chapter.
Anyone who is familiar with Bellingham knows the local fame that surrounds Mount Baker — a private ski area at the end of a dead-end highway. It’s unique, beautiful, and quirky. The snow is an hour and a half away. It’s great for those who love snow, but don’t want to shovel it.
Unfortunately, I’m not one of those people.
Me? I want to shovel it, damnit. I want fluffy powder to dump itself on my doorstep. I want roads unsurpassable."
