Do you know how Joseph Pilates founded Pilates?
During WWI, he was in an internment camp and had started to develop his technique of physical fitness and help the other people he was interned with. During the latter part of the war, he served as an orderly and began to use his practice to help patients who were unable to walk by attaching springs to the hospital beds to support their limbs.
The practice of Pilates grew from rehabilitation into body conditioning and muscle strengthening.
